Well it’s started, our bathroom renovation! What a mess and tomorrow’s promising to be worse!!! The jack hammer will be starting at 7.00am and we’ll have a plumber, an electrician and the carpenters here. We are hoping it won’t take longer than 2 weeks. We’ve got 2 large waste skips outside our home and stuff all over the front lawn, thankfully we know it’s only temporary. Love Chris

1. Bathroom looking at side wall where bath used to be - not having a bath anymore.
2. Looking at ceiling.
3. Window which is going to be removed and a new higher one put in, due to me now having shower on the side where the window is.
4. Opposite side wall.

Good luck with the renovation. I am sure it will be stunning when finished. I think this saying should be put on a kitchen towel "You can't make a cake without eggs!" Happy hammers and Hugs, Suzanna

Thanks Suzanna, it's coming along nicely. Of course, there's always a few extras. I've decided to extend the toilet tiles right to the ceiling, so that means more work for the carpenter and of course extra money!!!!!!.
I can hear him down there as I write, he's taking down the old cornices and everything will have to be squared off. My new window is in and the waterproofing is done. Tiling should start Thursday I think. Love Chris

before it will be beautiful and comfortable, you have to deal with the mess. But I'm sure it will be worth it. Love Gerry

Thanks Gerry, yes, I know. I was apologising to my neighbour yesterday about the constant noise of the jack hammer and he said - "You can't make a cake without eggs!" That made me laugh as I'd never heard that before! Love Chris

You are so brave. I did a kitchen reno in December that was like swallowing a frog before breakfast. Do you have that phrase in Australia? If you swallow a frog first thing in the day, nothing worse can happen all day long.

That was funny, no I haven't heard that one. I can't wait to finish it now. Love Chris

Hold in there Chris. You will be really happy when it is all done. We have just had our back veranda and carport roofs replaced. 2 weeks on and off but we really happy with the finished job. It had that horrible green stuff on the roof and it was covered in dirt and dust. We had smoky grey colour bond put on the carport and smoky laser light on the veranda. Next job is a sky light at the end of the passage.

Sounds perfect Shirley. I'd like a skylight in the kitchen as it's darker than the rest of the house. I was talking to Sam (our demolisher carpenter who is here) and he suggested a local company in Newcastle. I will look into it! All I've got to do is talk Trevor around to it!!!! Love Chris

killiecrankie by killiecrankie 28 Feb 2018

Hope you have a easier time talking Trevor into it.My husband takes ages into agreeing to replace something & only when it breaks down then it is a mad rush to get done.
Latest thing was a TV for upstairs because he wasn't well ,4 months later the downstairs TV died after a blackout .If he had agreed to it then ,all we had to do was take it downstairs ,instead of running around looking for the right size TV after the Xmas sales had finished & the warehouses were out of stock.

Hi Karen, I don't think I'm allowed to due to our strict Work Health and Safety issues. I'd have loved to taken some of the tiles off the walls and jack hammer the floor!!! Love Chris

Been there done that, it took us a total of 4 months, 2 bathroom, three bedrooms and a new kitchen. But now we are living in our dream home and loving it, try not to stress, let it happen and it will soon be over.

Thanks Michelle, we did that to our home in Valentine. It took us 6 months with teenage girls at the time!!! They were most embarrassed when the tradesmen arrived every morning at 7.00! We had sheets up everywhere for privacy! I'm looking forward to this new bathroom. Love Chris

I know, I was thinking of you and Ray and how he's done it all on his own! Of course we'll have ours done quite quickly. Ray can take his time to do yours, besides you've already got 2 bathrooms upstairs!! Love Chris
P.S. great news about Jerri.
