Oh My ! just found these photos. Now I see .. Be sure to show the after photos.
Good luck with the renovation. I am sure it will be stunning when finished. I think this saying should be put on a kitchen towel "You can't make a cake without eggs!" Happy hammers and Hugs, Suzanna
Thanks Suzanna, it's coming along nicely. Of course, there's always a few extras. I've decided to extend the toilet tiles right to the ceiling, so that means more work for the carpenter and of course extra money!!!!!!.
I can hear him down there as I write, he's taking down the old cornices and everything will have to be squared off. My new window is in and the waterproofing is done. Tiling should start Thursday I think. Love Chris
before it will be beautiful and comfortable, you have to deal with the mess. But I'm sure it will be worth it. Love Gerry
Thanks Gerry, yes, I know. I was apologising to my neighbour yesterday about the constant noise of the jack hammer and he said - "You can't make a cake without eggs!" That made me laugh as I'd never heard that before! Love Chris
it is horrible when you are doing renovations but Oh it will be so worth it in the end and so beautiful Hang in there!! Can't wait to see it finished.
Me too, it will be wonderful, and it's Autumn here so it's getting cooler. I don't think I could have coped if this was done when we got back from Europe it was SO HOT!!! Love Chris
I do not envy you. Only when it is done
Yes, it will be wonderful when finished. I just have fine dust over everything. Love Chris
You are so brave. I did a kitchen reno in December that was like swallowing a frog before breakfast. Do you have that phrase in Australia? If you swallow a frog first thing in the day, nothing worse can happen all day long.
That was funny, no I haven't heard that one. I can't wait to finish it now. Love Chris
Hold in there Chris. You will be really happy when it is all done. We have just had our back veranda and carport roofs replaced. 2 weeks on and off but we really happy with the finished job. It had that horrible green stuff on the roof and it was covered in dirt and dust. We had smoky grey colour bond put on the carport and smoky laser light on the veranda. Next job is a sky light at the end of the passage.
Sounds perfect Shirley. I'd like a skylight in the kitchen as it's darker than the rest of the house. I was talking to Sam (our demolisher carpenter who is here) and he suggested a local company in Newcastle. I will look into it! All I've got to do is talk Trevor around to it!!!! Love Chris
Hope you have a easier time talking Trevor into it.My husband takes ages into agreeing to replace something & only when it breaks down then it is a mad rush to get done.
Latest thing was a TV for upstairs because he wasn't well ,4 months later the downstairs TV died after a blackout .If he had agreed to it then ,all we had to do was take it downstairs ,instead of running around looking for the right size TV after the Xmas sales had finished & the warehouses were out of stock.
Only a short time, think how great it will be when finished
How exciting- even though you have to put up with a "little" mess for a while. Hope everything goes as planned!
I know the mess and the waiting ar hard, but oh, what joy on the day it is finished. Now will they give you a try using the jack hammer?
Hi Karen, I don't think I'm allowed to due to our strict Work Health and Safety issues. I'd have loved to taken some of the tiles off the walls and jack hammer the floor!!! Love Chris
Don't be at all surprised if it takes longer than estimated. Just know you will enjoy when they are through. Can't wait to view the after shots.
Thanks Toogie, Brad hopes it will all be done sooner than later as it's not a big bathroom. We'll see!!! I'll post the after shots when finished. Love Chris
A mess now...but well worth the effort when it is all done!
Been there done that, it took us a total of 4 months, 2 bathroom, three bedrooms and a new kitchen. But now we are living in our dream home and loving it, try not to stress, let it happen and it will soon be over.
hugs
Michelle
Thanks Michelle, we did that to our home in Valentine. It took us 6 months with teenage girls at the time!!! They were most embarrassed when the tradesmen arrived every morning at 7.00! We had sheets up everywhere for privacy! I'm looking forward to this new bathroom. Love Chris
Just keep saying, it will be worth it, it will be worth it, it will be worth it. And it truly will once it is finished.
Chris, good luck with the renovation. We did some years back. took longer than expected, and with lots of dust everywhere, even we had put plastic to cover.. but at the end.. the result is always so nice
Keep us updated ..
Welcome to the reno club!!! :-)
It will all be worth it when it's done.
I know, I was thinking of you and Ray and how he's done it all on his own! Of course we'll have ours done quite quickly. Ray can take his time to do yours, besides you've already got 2 bathrooms upstairs!! Love Chris
P.S. great news about Jerri.
