Hello Cuties! I just made this coaster and I love it! The free design is at Kreative Kiwi called Koru Heart. Yesterday dragonflyer posted a thread, with the link to their site. I have included the link to her post about it.

On colors 9 and 10, I chose to do all red (one color) and used red in my bobbin. I didn't want the outside edge of the white to be white.
I hope you like my traditional red, for my Valentine.-Toogie
Just finished the second one. I added another layer of batting on, when I added the back. I didn't do the quilting stitches as she states in her pdf, it is optional, to skip those 2 steps. Can you see the difference and if so, which do you like best? The quilted one has only batting on the top of WSS and is about the thickness of a felt coaster. The second one is not quilted but has two layers of batting on each side of WSS. It's a little thicker, of course.

They are both lovely! Your fabric choice really gives a nice crisip look to them. I actually prefer the one not quilted. The curves of the quilted one emphasizes one side of the heart over the other and draws my eye to it away from the coaster as a whole.

Thanks for the info you have provided above and below. I always learn a lot from you and appreciate the time you take to provide details.

These are delightful and I LOVE your choice of fabrics. I had already downloaded this design before I saw it on Cute. I checked the design last night and it comes in 2 sizes; the larger one will have to be done in my 200X200 hoop and I think that a set...one large (for the tea pot) and four small ones (for a mug and a cookie) would make a lovely gift. I think I would use either a thicker batting or 2 layers of a thin one, but do the stippling. Will have to get busy in the sewing room! Thanks for sharing and be blessed, Avis

Avis your gift idea will be very nice. I wish I had the 8x8 hoop!

Actually, on viewing the design again...it comes in FOUR sizes!! 4X4, 5X5, 6X6 and 8X8. Avis

I like the thickness of the second one but I am partial to quilting stitches. Great job.

I thought of you when I linked over from my email and here you have already made some. Way to go. I love them both and your choice of fabric, but agree the thicker batting would work best. Thank you for doing them different way for us.

I think thicker batting and quilting is best, for me anyway. Thanks for thinking of me!

I like them both (your fabric choice was right on!). Which one do you think would be more absorbent? Great stitching!!

I like the double batting used on the second one, but I will quilt the third one. Using the one layer by the time it is quilted is just too flat. I will use two layers of batting, but stitch the quilting steps.Thank you

I ran and downloaded it. Can see it in pinks on a pink baby blanket, other baby items. Sooo cute to not be from Cute Embroidery.

toogie by toogie 19 Jan 2018

They have it in pink, didn't you see? I think any color would be great. So when do we see yours?...

I would recommend doubling up on the batting or adding batting when adding the back ONLY because it makes for a very thin coaster. If you like it thin, make like the instructions say. In any case, I have made their coasters before and they have always done well.
