Hi my sister made me a secret jewelry closet keeper. it is so nice. you hang it in your closet and hide your jewelry in it. Nice! just an idea...
Is this one of those clothes hanger covers with the zipper bottom or something different?
Just thought of another idea for you. How about washcloths (facecloths) with scrubbies in them? Sick has several sets of these, some for kitchen dishcloths, but any basic appliqué design will work. They are quick and easy to make. Hugs. Nan
Hi Toogie, I made a couple of travel sewing foldy type things for presents this Christmas.
This looks simple enough, thanks. I do want to know if anything is in between the orange fabric, such as batting or you make call wadding?
Nothing is in mine, but I guess you could put a thin wadding in the outer wrap. I cut 2 long lengths, stitched around it, then folded it up to form the lower pocket. For the black pocket, do the same with 2 pieces of fabric, with the pocket flap being stitched in place over the orange one. Leave other end open for the other pocket. Close with either button or other.
I made something like this before only smaller. Thanks for the info and I think this would stitch up quickly with no emb.
Hey Toogie, maybe you could find something if you have a look through these....

:-)
Microwave bags for sore muscles or warmth for the return trip.
For those that love clean hands -- a purse sized pretty pouch to hold wet wipes.
"Monogrammed" hankies that just say the year and FL.
Sewing kits.
Money belt or pouch.
A zipped bag big enough for a novel and a phone -- on a string or narrow strip of fabric for a concealed cross-over that goes anyplace.
Lanyards.
Crochet or knitting needle pouch (folded and tied so they won't fall out).
Scented sachet for their luggage.
Neck pillow.
Sleep mask.
Ear muffs to block sound as they sleep.
Sunscreen in a small pouch.
Travel jewelry organizer.
Lip balm holder.
Coin purse with key chain
There may be more and I am sure some are repeats...
I'm thinking that since you are going to Fl many will probably be at the beach or swimming so how about a drawstring bag to put wet suits in--or shells, etc. I think you could use that waterproof/vinyl fabric and i have seen some cute designs like bikinis, different shells, and so on if you have time to emb them. Have fun and safe travels.
Time is NOT on my side, but we will see. Thanks for these ideas and feel free to add more!
Your foldaway bags would be great can't have to many, or neck pillows the peanut shape or boomerang style. You could emb a little palm tree on them.
I will have to see if I have a palm tree design. I would like one in appliqué , I think.
Luggage handle wraps..."Not your bag" ,"Private property", "World explorer", "Whatever", "From here to ???", "Gone again", "Hands off", "If it's Tuesday..." , "The wanderer",
Anyone have additional travel related phrases?
Lol-I like the 'Gone Again'!-'Seeing the USA' is another one but not in a Chevrolet-lol- was a Mercedes bus last time!
Hurray! Maybe I will get to see you. Let me know where you are headed. Be sure to include gators, palm trees and flamingos as your designs. Tote bags and sun glass holders will be popular, I'm sure. Maybe sleeves for your iced drinks. Keep us up to date on what you decide to make.
I think I have a tag from dbsick that has palm trees and Florida on it.
Will be in Jacksonville area.
You seem to have made all the great ideas already. How about tote bags made from screening? You can get the black vinyl screening at Home Depot or Lowes on a big roll. And I have sent you a PM. Hugs. Nan
What department is this screening? Is it used for windows or a barrier for weeds when gardening?
I am sure whatever you make will be appreciated.
What about seatbelt covers, fold up carry bags, shower caps, embroidered hat's/caps, pin on badges that say "I've been to Florida", luggage tags, money pouches that can be worn. You could make a special softie as a travel buddy!
I was afraid you were gonna say a monkey!- lol- I may make the luggage tags as I need quick things, none personalized.
Haha well you could make a cheeky monkey. I am sure it will keep everyone entertained.
Here's a link to recycled denim trivets. Not embroidery, but a project.

Or, how about a travel pillow?
Oh I like the trivet especially for ME- lol I wouldn't want to keep pins in tho so I'd have to get some glue. Wish now I'd have kept all those pieces from Caleb's blue jean quilt ....

type this into the search engine first: http://
Hey I do like the jean trivet. Have you ever used any fabric glue like this 6000 or whatever she showed? IF I can get hubby to trim some seams....and to think of all the ones I threw away after I made Caleb's quilt! I never throw if I think I may use but I did these......shucks!
My first two thoughts are a "tacky" fabric checkbook cover that says Souvenir of Florida in neon thread. And remember those sun visors everyone was making 8-10 years ago?
No I must have missed the visors. I thought I was the only one still writing checks- lol- kids say mom get a debit card!- Checkbook cover easy enough but were visors ITH?
Toogie - take a look at this you tube. Crafty Gimini is a Florida based site, and she was giving out quick Christmas ideas....that can be carried over to other gift giving....
