We have discovered my daughters new elf (posted over in projects) is not naughty but just mischievous! She has been up to all kinds of antics as one would assume including getting into makeup but the one thing none of us expected is her disappearing in our local hardware store.

My daughter had Lucy elf safely tucked away in a little bag and somewhere between the cafeteria and the playground she went wandering. My daughter was understandably upset and Staff were awesome helping with the elf hunt, they even checked the security cameras and could see her but said it didn't look like there would be good news. After an hour of searching (we had only been there 2mins when it happened) I prepared my daughter that we would have to leave without her elf as she was probably up to important elf business for Santa.

We left with a very disappointed little girl who didn't sleep at all. Well happy to report at 8.30 the next morning we received a call from the hardware store to say elf Lucy had been found in the garden section and was now having breakfast at the cafeteria!
It was so hot when we turned up to pick her up she was in the drinks fridge! Lucy even posed for a few photos for staff during her stay. I suspect they enjoyed a little elf mischief this Christmas season! Now One happy little girl and one elf back under supervision!
A couple of pics of her stay at the hardware store, on the sleepy pic she looks like the princess and the pea!

How wonderful that the employees in the hardware store participated in the antics of your elf! I hope Santa rewards them well for taking such good care of elf Lucy.

It was great and quite a few if the staff waved to my daughter and her elf as we left, happy they helped to reunite them. We will be visiting them with some Thank you goodies and some photos for their wall. They have a bear on the shelf for kids to find and Lucy had her pic taken with the bear on her adventures

Great story and nice pictures to go with it. And so tradition is born, to be added to and repeated each Christmas. Congratulations.

Yes fun tradition but not sure that my daughter or myself for that matter would care to be overnight without her again not knowing if she would be coming back to our house again

You're right it was Bunnings fortunately it was one if the smaller ones but yes it is still big. Still can't quite believe they found her.

What a simply wonderful adventure Miss Lucy had! She's very sorry I'm sure that she upset her little owner, but exploring is part of her chores. She did come home and will be a good little elf for the rest of the season. Beautiful story for you little one, great job mom. You might need to make a spare or twin so a little heart won't be broken if she disappears again. You never know how ornery elves can be. :~)

Quite the adventure for sure. I did end up making a twin in case the other didnt turn up, which took longer as i made sure to place the fabric pattern as close to the original as possible. My daughter would just know it was different if fabric placement was different but knowing her she would probably still pick up on it she is so observant!

What a lovely story. At least it was Lucy who disappeared and not your daughter

So so true. Havent lost a child yet, but I know i would be in a frantic mess. Made sure my kids knew their name address and phone numbers from a young age just in case though

I am so glad Lucy was found. I suppose she needed to spread some magic or give the workers some Christmas cheer. Regardless, your daughter should sleep good tonight with Lucy safely home again. Merry Christmas!
How old is your little girl? Our Nora is four.

Yes she certainly spread some Christmas cheer and i suspect the staff at the hardware store were just as relieved to find her as we were. My youngest is 7 and couldn't stop chatting as soon as she had Lucy back in her arms safe and sound again!

How awesome. What a great elf story. I guess she is getting into more mischief than Toogie's monkeys! Cuties have such wonderful imaginations! Thank you for the story and smiles.

My daughter wants to write a story book about Lucy's antics so that will be a quiet activity to do on a hot day

She has only been in the house a few days but has already had a number of adventures to keep everyone on their toes!
