I saw a simple and darling idea yesterday while antiquing. I'm sure it was a commercial enterprise, but we could borrow the idea. They took pieces of an old quilt (probably worn and damaged) and cut it on a craft cutter into the shape of a state. This state shape was glued onto a background, matted and put in a frame. We, of course, could embellish by embroidering the state name on the fabric before cutting and perhaps a star on our own city, or the state bird or flower, even our family name. Have fun crafting.

Love that idea! I saw something similar at a shop a while back. They had stitched strips of selvedges together to make a solid piece of fabric, then cut out animal shapes (bunny, pig, etc) and matted and framed them. I thought that would be really cute in pastels for a baby's room. Be sure to post your projects---would like to see the results. Thanks for sharing!

Love this idea and what a great way to save a family treasure that has been damaged.
