What a great idea! I've been using dowels but they don't wash well. I'm going to hunt out plastic cable ties to see if we have any of the wider ones that you found. Thanks Carolyn! --Sharon

I guess I'm not quite understanding HOW/where you put them in. Do you just lay them inside or do you stitch them in or solid ZZ over them. Putting them just in bottom our around the hole? Thanks! just can't picture in my pea brain today......

I've been using wooden ice cream sticks for years and have no trouble with them.

Yes, I originally did too, but wooden ice cream sticks and wooden dowels may cause a problem when laundered...which is why I have tried to come up with other alternatives that wash better...

Well done, sounds great. I have them in our garden shed too. I am surprised that they are strong enough though to hold a tea towel. Love Chris

I tried cable ties, but found that they were not as sturdy...but better than not using anything for sure...

Clever idea I think you would get more than one out of one cable tie as they look to be a foot long.
