I made 2 more quilt squares to go in a quilt to be hung at the NC Women's Hospital. The goal is to have a square representing each of the 100 counties in North Carolina. They only lack about 12 now. The squares are too big to fit in my largest hoop so each one is multiple hoopings.

I have added a poor picture of the quilt so far. The orange and yellow blocks are placeholders for the remaining county blocks. This quilt is 15 feet by 9 feet.

Oh this is such a great project! You're more determined than I am, that's for sure. Quilts seem daunting to me. I am from NC too. Johnston county here. What part are you from?

I'm originally from Surry but now live in Alamance. There are lots of quilt guilds in the Raleigh area and members are always willing to help. Thanks for commenting.

I have a ton of ITH quilt designs and one day I'm actually going to break them out and give them a go. Now that I have a larger hoop it won't be as big of a task. I could never seem to get my sashing and cornerstones to line up properly. Very frustratin

That's a beautiful project, and your squares are fantastic. Such a great idea for the hospital.

I've never done a multi-hoop work, so my hat is off to you!

It's not my project, thank goodness. I found out about it and just wanted to help out. I've contributed 4 blocks now, I'm done.

I can't believe this has taken 16 years to finish if it was started in 2001! That is a lot of work and at 15 feet long - it will look fantastic on a long wall. Can't wait to see the whole quilt finished. Love Chris

Thanks. The center circle is 8x8 and I embroidered that first, that's over 40,000 stitches. Next, I did the stipple quilting on the left then the right. Lots of fun matching up the stippling! If you find the join lines, please don't point them out.

Will this quilt be shown ( perhaps in the newspaper) ? Would love to see it completely. I am from NC too. This is a wonderful project.

Thanks, I'm enjoying helping out. They've been trying to complete this quilt since 2001.

The Home Extensions in each county would probably help. We have some great quilters in Cabarrus County that were members of the H.E.
