I completely forgot you live in Knysna. My friend is in Brenton on Sea. Fortunately her house was not burnt down. It was so sad that this happened. In the week of devastation she was busy helping organise music for a priest's 50th Anniversary of Ordination. So some joy amongst the sadness. Did you know half of Woodridge in Port Elizabeth was burnt out on Sat 10th. My parish has collected clothing, bedding and food for the Thornhill area which also experienced the fires. We keep Knysna in prayer. ElizabethAK
Great idea knitted goods are so appreciated. I look forward to hearing how the distribution goes. Best wishes to you, yours and the communities affected by the fires.
Sarah, how did Josh's op go? So glad your Daughter has come up with this idea. With all that has happened in Nysna, you still remember everyone's birthday. Keep strong. Love and Hugs from Maureen
Brilliant, there will be many people who have lost everything and anything like this will be of immense help. The Love hearts on the scarf image is great. Such a great thing to do and your daughter has your same caring heart Sarah. Love Chris
Kudos to your daughter for not just coming up with this idea but making it happen. I hope the knitting efforts spread throughout the country.
I do not think it will spread but I am hoping that people like me who have time will get stuck in
We have a project call "67 for Mandela" which a lot of churches and schools embraced whereby they try to make 67 blankets for charity. There is also a day in July where many people donate 67 minutes of their time to charity by painting, cleaning, cooking for the many charitable organisations. My parish woman's league are knitting blankets but I doubt if we'll get to 67. I know of at least 10 so far (including my 2) (third one started) so, yes, we are all pitching in.
That is a super idea, it shows, like mother like daughter.
Hugs,
Gabi
Absolutely love it....would make a cute embroidery design too!!
Smart thinking of your daughter Sarah, and very compassionate heart she has, too. I hope their needles fly!
What a great idea, Sarah..
That's a fantastic idea. When we had fires this way many quilting groups made quilts and several scrapbooking groups made albums for families to record new memories and photos or to store any they managed to salvage. Such a beautiful thing to do.
