This is some of our beautiful town, Knysna. So many homes in ashes. Fire fighters came from all over South Africa. Without them thing would have been much worse. These were taken by a young man. The first 2/ 3 were a hotel. Four of our friends lost their homes.

How devastating this must be. I pray that God will be glorified even when it seems all is lost. So sorry to hear that lives were lost so I remember their families and friends as they go through this. Thanks for sharing the pictures; it makes the "news" more real. Prayerfully, Avis

Pictures say a thousand words. It's one thing to hear about the devastation and totally different to actually see it. Makes my heart sad. Prayers for everyone. Thank you for sharing. DebB

This is so sad. I do pray that no lives were lost because that is the most important thing.
God bless the firefighters who put their lives on the line. They are true heroes.
I can't imagine having to start over. You would have to get your head in a really good place and give thanks for the things you had and be grateful for what is left, first being your loved ones. I hope you will post pictures in this thread at a later date when things are rebuilt and fresh and new.

So much devastation Sarah and I'm so sorry about your friends losing their homes. Precious memories are gone forever of happier times. Thanks to all those fire fighters they earn big praises from me. It's such an exhausting job. I do hope the town rallies round all those who have lost everything, ❤️ Chris

It is horrible to see the devastation after a fire or any other natural disaster. It never gets easier. My heart goes out to all who were affected by the fires. I can remember someone saying it was so hard to lose pictures. If you have any, get copies for your friends who have lost so much. I'm sure it will help heal a little of the hurt.

I am so sorry for those that lost their homes in the fire. There is nothing more helpless feeling than seeing the fire come. Bless all the fire fighters from all the other areas that came to help. I know how important that is and the sacrifice they make to help. In our area, one of our prisons trains inmates to be firefighters and they were brought to help our area during the blaze. My prayers for all involved in this devastation.

Such a tragedy. I can't believe there are still some green, on the trees, with every thing that is burnt all around. Did you have any before the fire photos of the hotel or houses?

This is so upsetting. I know there is a paint that does not burn. I was created by a woman from Florida on her kitchen table. NASA or some other "agency" bought the patent and that was the last we have heard about it. That upsets me more!

Christine, the intensity of the heat and flames would have burnt anything. We have many wooden houses which were totally destroyed - nothing left

cfidl by cfidl 14 Jun 2017

Not this paint and if the house is secured, probably nothing in the house. We watched a tv program about it and saw the tests. It proved worthy, which is why NASA purchased it. The loss must be heartbreaking as it was when Colorado was burning a few years back.
