Nice job with the leather and the gift. The one in my car was made out of that cloth, I think it's called olly cloth, or something like that. Bevintex first introduced us to this type fabric. It's thin and would make perfect pouches like this.... Makes me wish I'd have thought about this yesterday with Walmart had it reduced to 50 cents yd!!! I may have to go back!! You have me excited, as this would be perfect men gifts!!! Thanks for the inspiration as I am sometimes slow witted!😉
I went back and all that walmart had for 50 cents a yard was in pink. Regular price isn't bad though at $1.47 yd. of course I pick up other fabric as hubby stayed home. Got a little over 13 yards for six dollars and something.
Thanks. Nice to hear you got some inspiration from it.
This isn't oily cloth Though. That's something I have yet to try working with.
Thanks for the idea. (Wish our Walmart brought back fabric - they now only carry a small selection of fat quarters and a few mini rolls of fabric.)
Yes I knew you said yours was leather, much nicer than the one Honda gave with my car manuel. Mine is made of Oly cloth. It looks more like paper instead of cloth😉
What a great idea! That's a classy looking pouch. I'd want to use it as a purse!
Is there any learning you can share regarding sewing and embroidery on leather? I am also thinking of doing something in leather but is worried about messing it up. Thanks! (BTW, very nice work!)
Thank you.
I watched a Nancy Zeiman program and then I practiced on some scrap leather. I got a leather jacket from one of the goodwill stores (it was one that they couldn't sell as it was in bad shape but was good for practicing wiyh.)
I also watched a few things on u-tube and Embroidery Library.
Very classy! Love the personal touch on it, too! Avis
It looks great, it is a very special present, a unique specimen :-) hugs Maria
I think this is a fantastic idea. So much nicer than the usual bags that the manuals come in. Lucky friend.
