I sew in my Lounge in front of the TV and I must do something while watching TV. Last night I starting the 3D Swan from Sue Box. Have had it for years and never game to tackle it. I had been talking to a Lady at the Easter Fair about it. So far it has stitched out really well but my concern is assembling the Swan. Has anyone ever done the Swan? Any pointers? I have a feeling this is going to take me longer than usual and could become a UFO.

Gee. I sound like most of you, have it, but have not started it. As you have stated mi30kaja, the assembly seems like a lot. I also look forward to seeing yours and hearing how it went. You are the inspiration for quite a few of us.

I made the Swan 5 years ago for a friend who was getting married. I don't remember it being hard to sew. Ursula is right about don't rinse the stabilizer out before sewing. I will look on my computer to see if I have a picture and post it. I know you can do it...

I also have this lovely design. I would love to stitch it out but the assembling puts me off. I have the thread, have had it for a few years now. Maybe when I see yours it will give me the encourgment to do mine. Best of luck. Hugs

The stitching out is easy. Will have to print off the instructions to have on hand as I am stitching it together.

It looks like a masterpiece of sewing engineering. I bet Sue Dewsbury could tackle it blindfolded! I can't wait to see the finished object Lyn, it will be beautiful and as Sue Box's designs are always well done I'm sure it will be stunning. I hope someone else has done it and can share their experience of making it up. Love Chris

Chris, While I was stitching it out I was thinking of Sue Box and how she digitised it as it is not a simple design.

don't rinse the parts before you stich them together because while there soft they are easy to handle.Just cut the excess stabilizer of, hugs Ursula

Pity we don't live close. Sure with us sitting side by side we could work it out.

Hi Lyn,

I have never stitched out and assembled the whole Swan but I have seen the instructions that came together with the CD. The illustrated instructions show how to sew the various pieces together. If you don't find the instructions, you could email Peter Cheney, Sue Box's Manager, asking him for a copy. Happy stitching! :-)
Hugs, Lidia

Check in with "lidiad". She has made many of the Sue Box designs, and she might have some specific knowledge of the fsl swan design you are working on now.
