New Update below. Back from my vacay. Traded the old knee in this week and back home on day three. So far, so good. Therapist needs my University of Pain Alumni shirt. Day 5- Packed a picnic at kitchen and dragged my leg outside for that healing view of the trees and pond. Sugartoes rewarded me by crawling up in my foot chair and deigning to bump the bad foot. Stayed about 30 minutes and came back exhausted. Nap time. 1 week update - still can't spell well or find my home keys on keyboard, but on leg a bit more, still not long enough to cook! Desire to buy fabric has not returned yet! Off the bad meds except for Physical Therapy time. Three week update - gained a little strength last couple of days and can lift knee higher and without assistance! No more home therapy. I am allowed to drive myself to therapy at the hospital. Sleep still messed up by anesthesia. Desire for fabric or climbing stairs to stitch still not returned - guess that's the last sign of healing.

So glad you are healing well and you were able to get outside for a bit of a picnic lunch. Sunshine and fresh air can lift spirits faster than most anything. Hope you now have had a bit of a nap and ready for the bit of exercising you will be doing this evening. So happy all is going well, keep following the advice of the physical therapists and doctors. I was going to say I hope you get as many years out of your replacement as you got from your first model that God provided you, but I also do not think I could wish that long of a life for anyone. Healthy, active, fulfilled life, for as long as the Lord deems your lifetime to be. Enjoy every single activity that is now again opened back up to you once again. Treasure it well! Pam

Thanks, Pam. My great aunt lived well till 97 and grandfather till 96, I might be thrilled with approaching either of those.

I hope each day is better and better for you. One of my sister-in-law's had both her knees replaced at one time. This was a few years ago and she did extremely well.

A knee op described as a vacation, well that's a new one. Today I had my grandsons as their mu was working and she was recovering her sisters mother in law from her new knee op. Take care and good wishes for a speedy recovery

So pleased to read that you are back home Betsey. Sending healing thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. My Mum has been through that 3 times (first one didn't take). She is now 83 and can do most things still, except for kneeling on them. Love Chris

Glad you left that pesky old pain on your trip. I keep hearing if you do exactly what the therapist says you get out well on the other end. Prayers for you and healing and tolerance.

Glad you're doing well. Over the years, many of my students have said they wanted to be physical therapists. I always thought to myself "why in the world would you want to make every person you see all day hurt?" I know it's necessary, but my therapist made me cry three times a week and I hated it. I needed it, and I did it, but still hated it.

My daughter is a therapist and it is so rewarding to help people overcome a disability.

I pray you have as much success with your knee surgery as I have. I left the hospital for a swing bed unit for 9 days of rehab. before going home. It has been wonderful. The surgery was Nov 10, 2016 and now I am able to dig holes with a shovel to plant flowers. Walking and stairs are no longer painful.

Several of my friends and coworkers have had knee replacements, and every single one of them is so glad they did it. Most have even said they wish they hadn't waited so long.
