Hello Cuties! Well Avery's dress is finished and guess who made it? Mostly her mom made it ( I cut out and helped with band and monogram)!

Since the pattern didn't have these fluttery sleeves, I made the pattern for them, to match little Nora's (see photos below). I also added fullness to her dress, by moving the pattern a couple inches away from the fold, so it would be fuller and work out better for her needs.

But mom sewed the dress together, all but the band. She made the piping for the band, then had to leave for a couple hours. When she came back, I had the piping on the band and the band sewed onto the bottom of the dress. Then I monogrammed it.

I was so proud of her! So today she made this flowered infant peasant dress off of sewmuchado.com. We will monogram it when she finds out the initials. She made it all by herself, reading the steps as she went along. When she was unsure, I would explain. It took her several hours, because she sewed in the slowest speed possible, but she made it.

The dress pattern of Avery's armholes were so large, I had to end up taking a pleat on each of them, for her. You could see down to her waist! I will raise them on the pattern, before I cut the next one, if we make anymore.

I also included a photo of Avery in the recliner, just so you could see how she has grown. I know it's hard to tell her size in her wheelchair but she has a hospital gown on here, so don't look at that-lol- She went to the specialist for her GI tube last week for a check up and they weighed her. She had not been weighed in about 9 months. She gained 15 pounds! She now weighs 65 pounds and is h-e-a-v-y.

Below is the photo of Nora in her bought dress and on the right is Avery's dress to match, best as I could. I found her fabric at Walmart. Nora's little size 4 was $5. I paid $6.11 plus tax for Avery's fabric.

The link below is for the little print infant dress. I added 2 inches to the length of the pattern, so I could have a nice wide hem to turn up. I think even 3 inches would have been better, but only turn up the 2. I found it ran shorter than my other baby dresses this size. I thought maybe you'd like to try one for your next baby gift, so I added the link. Hope you like these photos and I haven't bored you to tears. Have a good night my friends, Toogie

That is such a classic dress and you and your daughter did such a great job. My little granddaughter may just wind up with several of these! Perfect for summer! I can just picture this made out of pretty seersucker

That would be nice. I am sure the pattern can be easily adjusted and they are so simple to make.

Thank you. I really want her to love sewing and embroidery as much as I do. I also want it to be relaxing for her and not stressful or she won't like it. It's not easy if you have to stop and tend the kids.
That's why I looked after them while she sewed. Even though I made her dad the prettiest omelet, while fixing Gus's bottle and Nora's plate, WITHOUT any salt and pepper!-lol- First time I ever did that-lol-lol

Thanks about the dresses.
I knew you could tell more her size in this chair, even though it's not a great picture of her, in this gown and bunched up socks-lol Maybe mom will send a pic when they wear their dresses.

Yes mam, she has! Sometimes it's even hard for me to believe. We had Swiss Family Robinson on, in the bedroom where she was in lying on the bed. I lay down with her and we cuddled, she likes that. She also likes all the shouting and excitement, makes her laugh out loud. She jumps and she laughs at herself for jumping, when there is a loud bang.

Such cute dresses and cudos on getting your daughter interested in sewing. I so wish mine wanted to.
Our little honorary Cutie is really getting big! I can't believe how she's grown. Give her hugs and kisses from this grandma.

Ashley has shown interest before, but it's never been time for her. She wanted to learn smocking when she was pregnant for the twins. They came early and since then seems like there hasn't been time. Yesterday we made time.
SIL came in early so was there when Avery got off the bus and I watched the two little ones here.
I told my hubby after she left I could have made 3 or 4 in the time it took her, because she sewed on the s-l-o-w-e-s-t speed, but I held myself back and let her do what she felt comfortable with. (It was hard, though-lol) They need to learn as I have to leave this for somebody!-lol
Just when I got her sister into embroidery, she bought a machine, built a sewing room, even joined and made a comment on Cute.... then went to work in a job outside the home!
Our Cutie is growing and I will be more than happy to give her some lovin' from you. I bet your little grandson isn't so little anymore either. Give him a hug around the neck from us.-Toogie

Thanks, I like to be busy when I feel good. My back is better but it makes me still 'aware' of it. Doesn't hurt nearly as bad as it has.

Love the dresses, the girls will look adorable together. Avery is certainly growing up. Nice to see she's putting on weight, not so good for your back.. Marian

Yes, she can't remain small, but sure wish she had a lift. Sunday when leaving church, Ashley (my daughter), hurt her back getting her out of her chair into the van. I guess while I'm wishing I may as well wish for a van she can roll up in and not have to transfer out of her wheelchair into the van seat.
SIL works on Sundays right now but I told Ashley ASK a man to help her. She says she don't want anyone hurting themselves lifting her and they know SIL's not there. Sometimes even though they 'know' sometimes they don't 'think' to help but are willing if you ask.....You are right, extra pounds is more dead weight and not good for any of us with our bad backs.
