Good morning Cuties. Well, I've been and had my first eye surgery this morning. Had to be at hospital at 6.15am.

I was second on the list as the lady before me was a full blown Diabetic and needed to get hers done before me so she could get her insulin levels right.

I went in to surgery at 7.50am and was finished by 8.15. It's amazing, I've had a Stent, trifocal lenses, cataract removal and laser surgery! I look like a Pirate with my eye patch on. The eye and forehead is still numb, but I didn't feel a thing. I saw lots of shapes and the image of an outline of the surgeon etc. but it was all blurry. I go back tomorrow morning for a check and have to put eye drops in for a month. The other eye will be done next Thursday, but I'll have to wait till the Tuesday to have it checked as it's Easter.

Because I have Glaucoma the installation of the stent is to keep the pressure down. Amazing that this sort of micro surgery is available now and I thank God this system has been invented. Can't drive for a couple of days, but should be fine for Palm Sunday.

1. Me with my Eyepatch - sans makeup!!
2. The Stent that was placed in my eye - as you can see it's minute - it's on the top of the finger!

Love Chris

Sorry I missed all of this, but I'm glad you are fine and it was a success. I'll pray for your glaucoma to stay at bay for many, many years.

Was a year ago mine were done, fortunately I don't have the glaucoma issue, but looks like they have great options for that now......looking good, Chris and soon you will be able to see how good you look!!

Thanks Irene, I hope your ENT appointment went well too.
I feel fantastic and it's a perfectly gorgeous Autumnal day here in Newcastle today. I hope the weather is kind to you up north. And how about our poor Queenslander cousins too, what a lot of rain they have experienced. Love Chris

Thanks Bärbel, yes, I understand exactly what you mean. I've always had pretty good long vision and my Mum always tells me I have eyes like that. Love Chris

Wow, there's been a lot of us having surgery. I hope your surgery was successful. I worked for a Dentist for 10 years, was it dental? Good luck with your recovery too. I'm feeling fantastic, so can't wait for the Left eye surgery next Thursday. Love Deb

Hi Chris ,Having had this done 2 years ago I know how you feel , my lenses took away my need for glasses altogether, after wearing them for 45 years , now I can see to thread the smallest needle and even unpick black on black at night , I was so pleased with myself ....modern medicine .Aren't we glad we live in these times , having one eye didn't slow me down for a minute . Happy sewing , Cathy (Perth)

Thanks for that information Cathy. I was so impressed as this evening I went out to take the washing off the line and looked at the street light across the back of our reserve, which is in a cul-de-sac and there was no halo around it. Yeah!!!! I came in and told Trevor straight away and that's only 1 day after surgery. Love Chris

Thanks Shirley, everything is perfect. I've been to see the Doctor this morning and he is thrilled with his work and how well the operation went. He said for someone who had eye surgery only yesterday I'm doing remarkably well. I know that I had lots of love, prayers and help!!!! Love Chris

Ha ha ha, you can't keep a good woman down as the saying goes. I only did one thing and the machine as you know does most of it and because I only am using white it's easy. Love Chris

Glad to see you don't have after surgery pain. I also have Glaucoma but mine isn't as bad as yours, I only have monthly injections in my eye to reduce the pressure at least for the time being..

Wow, Marian, I have never had needles, I had some laser surgery back in 2012 and 2015, but never monthly needles. My MIL used to have needles in her eyes and a specialist went to Canberra every 2 months to see his patients. Love Chris

Hi Gerry, yes, well, I was doing some typing for church and thought I may as well put the machine on whilst doing some working. Trev was home with me till 500pm then went to work at TAFE (Technical and Further Education) to go teach his students. At least I got one square done! Love Chris

All the best in your recovery Chris. It's amazing what they can do these days - that stent is so tiny!

Thanks Maria yes it is tiny but when you consider it's in your eye well then it's got to be small. ❤️ Chris

Glad it went well........What are you doing with a measuring tape around your neck and being in your sewing room? Trying to work with only the vision of one eye? Hug. Hope the bandage will come of soon.

Hi Angie I was doing some measurements for a company I bought an outfit from and I bought the wrong size, so they wanted to know my measurements. I couldn't just sit and do nothing today anyway. ❤️ Chris

Thanks Chris, I have had two courses of laser for the glaucoma as I didn't tolerate the drops. Anyway it is much more convenient than having to carry a cooler bag for the drops when you travel.
I had a very red eye last time so hope that doesn't happen again.

What will they think of next. I am amazed at all medical science can do and like you thankful too. I have had both eyes cataract surgery and have both surgeries on video. Caleb and Taylor watched it a few weeks ago. When the dr explained the first surgery he said you will be semi awake and I stopped him right there. I said No I don't want to be. He said I would only be 'awake' enough to follow commands. In the video he will say look up or look down & I do it but don't remember anything. I was wearing bifocals before and now just wear readers for sewing and reading. I hope these surgeries are successful for you. You look great with or without makeup- Toogie

Thanks Toogie, I was very apprehensive about this surgery, and was hoping to get it done after the wedding in May. The doctor suggested I get it done before then as the costs are rising up again. I never thought of having the surgery videos, that would have been fun!

I felt absolutely nothing, and yes, the science behind it is amazing. I'm just not allowed to lift anything heavy for a couple of days and use the eye drops. I don't mind that as I'm used to having things on my eyes re make up etc. Thanks for you lovely comment about me not wearing makeup, I appreciate that. I do look after my skin as I've said before the sun damages you so much here in Aus.

I think I'll still have to use glasses too for close work, will wait and see. I may have to have new ones, I'm not sure. I'll keep you posted. Love Chris

It will get better Carolyn. I said it was like seeing prisms and the kids said they could see my lens when the light hit my eyes. Did bother me for awhile but now okay.

pennifold by pennifold 05 Apr 2017

I hear you Carolyn, I never go outside without sunglasses. I worked for the Cancer Council for 7 years and saw terrible things, so am very aware of the damage and especially here in Australia. We have the highest cases of Skin Cancer, Melanomas etc. in the world. The glare from our sun is real glary too, so I'm well aware of that. Thanks for your warning. Love Chris

glad to hear that but Toogie it is 2 years and no better:(:(
