Using up the tiniest scraps of fabric. My daughter gave me a small bag of the scraps of ice-dyed material she had left over from a project. I cut hexagons out as far as possible but was left with this tiny fragments. I spritzed a piece of fabric with temporary spray adhesive and laid the fragments on it. I then covered that with black net. If I had any skills in fmq, that would have been my next step, but I don't so I stitched it in straight lines about 1cm apart. I now have a small panel of this and a similar sized piece of epp hexagons. Watch this space to see what happens next!

The third picture is the quilt she made using recycled jeans and the ice-dyed fabric.

Another brilliant idea. Going to projects to have a look.

Sue, next time you do a project like this try using the decorative stitches on your sewing machine. Anything from a plain zigzag to leaves or hearts in a line. :-)
Same as you did, stitch in a straight line but the needle waves it magic to make decorative quilting for you.
The simplest one is to use the wavy line that you use instead of the three step zigzag stitch. It helps to make one look ever so clever. :-)
By the by, did I say? Love your work!

I like it! I have some scrap fabrics and when I get them all together I will do this. I am sure if you tried fmq you will be hooked. Like everything else it takes practice and what better testing material than the piece you created above. I probably would use a light fusible product instead of a temporary.

What great colors. Ice dyed - interesting some ladies in our quilting guild did that. What amazes me more is that you don't let little scraps just disappear into the garbage or landfills. You are creative beyond our ancestors who never threw anything away, because you turn it into art. I definitely will be waiting with the rest of the cuties to see your end results.

I love it, the remnants are so beautiful and the resulting fabric is brilliant. I used bridal netting when I did something similar a few(?) months ago, I like the black you used.
I'll be watching this space :)

Your daughter's quilt is fab!

Does you mine ever stop? The quilt is beautiful. I think she has her Mom's talent.
