Well, I won"t be able to do any crafting for the next 3 months or so, and it's not warm enough to do gardening yet (it's below freezing today here in western Canada). Why? Well, I had to get my pinky finger joint on my right hand fused yesterday. I broke the finger several years ago and it was not set properly, so it healed bad. The joint was fusing on its own, but arthritis had set in and caused me considerable pain and discomfort, so fusion was my only choice. Once all is healed I will be ready to hit the ground running as I am getting a new embroidery machine! Wooo hoooo. I will be getting a Brother 6 or 10 needle (I haven't decided yet). I am meeting the Brother sales rep in a month so will ask all my questions and decide then. Until all is healed, I can sit back and enjoy everyone's beautiful projects and get all kinds of inspiration!

It doesn't look too bad in the pictures, but it sure is painful and I keep bumping the finger which doesn't help. What do you think of my nurse? Mocha had to check it out as soon as I sat down.

You should be well in no time with your excellent nurse there to give kisses and cuddles. How wonderful that you will be getting a new machine. Look at some of the 6 and 10 needle manuals while you are on "sick leave" and you will be ahead of the game. :)

Maybe if you lightly tape your wounded finger to the one next to it might help the bumping.

I have family somewhere up there. I hope you are all healed before gardening season. Enjoy your rest, as it seems you have lots to do in the spring!

Thanks for the thoughts. I have a ton of family in the US, my sister has been tracing our ancestry and we have over 100,000 relatives south of the Canadian border :-)

What a loving kitty you have, hope your finger heals as expected, was the lower arm red from the ace bandage wrap? It looks almost like it was too tight of a bandage wrap or else you had your hand hanging down enough that it could have been swelling. If you are suppose to be keeping it up above the heart it really is much easier to put it on your chest like over your heart. It keeps it elevated and helps keep swelling down as well as keeps you from walking and swinging the arm to run into anything and every thing. If coloring has returned to normal please forgive my medical history background to notice those types of things, just follow those doctors orders, so all heals as is the hopes and prayers of all of us for your hand and finger and hope you find some doable ways to still satisfy your crafter within. Hugs to your sweet Mocha, Pam

Thanks Pam. The red is from the disinfectant they paint all over you. My arm was a touch swollen, but that's because I couldn't move it for about 1 1/2 hours, and yes, I was awake through the whole thing. I am collecting inspiration like crazy and hope to feel well enough to go on a 3 day retreat near the end of April.

Glad to hear about the red disinfectant they used! I loved working and assisting in surgery and loved watching my 2 hand surgeries I was awake for though they were both very minor. Keep collecting Ideas and saving freebies from various sites as sometimes you will find ways to use things you would never have thought of. Then also be sure to check out various pinterest boards and various sites tutorials available on U Tube. Good goal for end of April!

The pain is already easing off - as long as I don't keep bumping it. It kind of sticks out like a sore thumb :-)

Hope your healing goes well in the meantime you have time to plan what projects to do with your new machine. Go for the 10 needles because once you start using a multi needle you will soon want to expand your embroidery projects. I love my 15 needle Happy machine. Best embroidery decision I ever made. So worth it.

Hopefully when this pain subsides you will have pain free hand. Don't suppose the cold helps with pain management at the moment. Try holding your arm up against you body when moving around I find this reduces you bumping it. Marian

I've been trying to guard the hand carefully, but I keep bumping it anyway.

Hope the pain goes away soon. It looks ouchy. You could perhaps manage to craft one handed, not easy but doable. You could be the one handed crafter!
Great news about a new embroidery machine! Something to look forward to when you are healed.

I hope that all goes well with your healing process Vida. It's always the one part of your body that you will hit when you don't want it to! Lovely that your cat is empathising with you. Good luck too with your new machine something wonderful to look forward to. Love Chris

Thanks Chris. I am clumsy anyway, so I'm sure this poor thing will get banged around more. I go next week to get a custom brace made, so that may help.

Sorry to hear your troubles with finger. Glad for you that you are getting a new machine. I know pain can be excruciating at times just elevating from elbow up sometimes help with the pain. Someone else will have to do the dishes. That is a plus for you./lillian

Thanks. Hubby is great, he bought supper last night and I pre-made a bunch of meals before surgery to help him out.

So sorry to hear of your troubles. Great news for a new machine though! Where are you? Here in south east B.C. we have sunshine today but still some snow and flooding in parts because of the recent rain. I am hoping for a new machine too but will have to wait as we do not have a Brother dealer near and I do like Brother machines. Good luck to you and take care.
Hugs, Nadyne

Thanks Nadyne. I'm in southern Saskatchewan. There are 4 Brother/ Babylock dealers in the province and I've checked them all out.

Thanks. I've been leaning towards the PR655 because I'm not sure I would use all the features of the 10 needle.

Thanks. Mocha has been stuck to me all day and walked across my hand while trying to cuddle closer. Ouch!

So sorry you have to deal with this but can see the kitty will help get you healed. Meanwhile, this is the time to hone your skills with your embroidery software. Watch lots of YouTube videos and search for freebies.
