If only it would be that easy. Digitising is a craft; it takes an (expensive) software programme and hours and hours of practice to get satisfying results. And then you'll want better artwork and spend hours trying to master that as well.
Take rescuer's advice, download a free trial, like Embird, and play with it. But only do it after embroidering enough designs to get a feeling for what works and what does not, and why. It will give you a quick start and prevent a lot of disappointment when testing your own digitised designs.
Very much this! Almost all designs look good when viewed on your computer, but look very different when actually put on fabric. Good luck with digitizing, it's a lot of fun once you get into it :)
Welcome to cute and see you have already received excellent info. Stay with us here at Cute . There is no one of us that knows everything, but there is a lot of wonderful cutes that know an awfully lot about many things. Sooner or later someone has an answer /Lillian
Welcome to Cute!
It really isn't "converting" as much as it is instructing the embroidery machine on where and when to add a stitch. It also must add stitch type, length and many other aspects of a good design. It takes years of learning and skill to digitize well. Auto-digitizing creates countless issues and some may even cause damage to your machine. Most digitizing programs are expensive. That is one reason embroidery designs are not free (except for limited free examples) especially when they are well done. Additionally, the cost of using artwork (even clip-art) can really affect the cost. One must pay for the specific use of the art.
There are a few embroidery digitizing programs one can try for 30 days. Perhaps that will help you get a better idea of what is involved.
Also important: are you looking for photo like quality of the stitch or more of a cartoon style?
The files you mentioned are not embroidery files but picture files like colour charts.
I see you are new to this site wondering if you are new to embroidery.
Welcome I am sure you will get lots of help from others.
Welllllllllll i use sew what pro 64 it is next to cheap i love it and i convert all mine to vp3 with it very fast tooooooooooo
Welcome hugs from Canada Carolyn
To do this, you would need Digitizing Software and be able to use it to turn it into a design. Digitizing is an art, and sometimes takes days of working on a jpg or tif file to turn it into an embroidery. If you want to learn Digitizing, there are a lot of programs out there to learn on. I am still learning on Embird. But I do not take a lot of time to learn the program, I am so very busy with so many things. Hope this helps you understand a little better. Hugs, Judy in Amarillo, Tx...
I have never seen a free one. The other problem is that the quality of the automated digitizing is usually poor.
Welcome to Cute
Hi and Welcome to Cute...jpeg and tiff files are artwork files and cannot be converted to sewing format files without a digitizing program. You would have to learn to manually digitize the jpeg or tiff files...some have an auto-digitizing feature. However, in my opinion, you will not really achieve a very good stitch file with auto-digitizing.
