Hello Cuties,

Thirty years ago, when my youngest daughter was about six years old, she used to take a bath at my broth-in-law's house. We would camp out along the fish bank, but go to their house to bathe.
She loved their claw footed bathtub, with the sloped back. She told him, on one of those times, "Uncle Quince, when you die I want you to give me this bath tub". His reply to her was, "As long as you are in no hurry for it"-lol
He is still living at home. Although he is now 89 and has lost his wife eleven years ago, he still remembered his promise.
He gave her this tub, when she bought her new house over a year ago, but she just had it re-porcelain/refinished. They picked it up today and our son and son-in-law hooked up the plumbing to it. Didn't it turn out beautiful? I think the guy did an amazing job. Look at the feet before and after. Wow! It is copper colored underneath now and bronze feet. The original color was pink underneath.
Ashley cried.
She said she waited 30 years for it and it has such history.
The reason it looked so bad in the before pics, it had been out in the weather here, at my house for the last year, on saw horses. Before that, it was left in their old abandoned home.
I think it has found its home again.....

I liked how you could have deep water to relax in. Good memories, for sure.

Her bath looks great. She will have many memories while soaking in it I am sure. One house we bought years ago they had taken the bath out and put in a shower. We found the bath up under the trees at the back fence. We had it re coated. It was just a ordinary bath not one like your daughters. Hugs Shirley

I think its always good to salvage what we can. It's is too much waste and landfills are full enough. Glad you saved yours.

That is so beautiful! How I'd love to take a long hot soak with a good book in that. What a gorgeous restoration. Priceless history attached.

I had to add one more photo. Ashley said last night Nora told her, "I stink today", because she wanted to try the 'new' tub. Ashley said she figured it out about sliding down the back and said,"This is awesome, it's so slippery". I told Ashley, "Her mamma made over".
..........Just the reason I won't be trying it out!

This is beautiful & what's even nicer is the memories that go along with it. I hope her uncle gets to see it. That was such a beautiful gesture on his part. Arlene

Yes, he will. He lives about a 35 minute drive away but still lives in his own home and still drives. He still works too sometimes, can you imagine that? Of course when he does my hubby works with him. Quince used to drill water wells, now they just service them, mostly for plant nurseries. He won't believe his eyes!

Oh she will. She is the one child of ours, that always wanted to go with us, to any family re-union. She loves family and appreciates the history and trying to preserve it.

I am so glad she finally got it finished and also thankful the guys could install it themselves. They needed a different gasket than the one came with the drain/handles set, but luckily one SIL was in town and could pick it up. (We live about 45 minutes away, out in the countryside.) They measured & SIL got the perfect size so they got to finish plumbing it.

It sure looks like it belongs there. The young lady that built the house took her tub, when she sold the house. It was part of the deal when they bought the house, as it was a family piece of her family. Ashley agreed to it because she knew she would replace it, with her own family tub.

What a terrific makeover, now a family heirloom that will be treasured for many years to come. Thanks to Uncle Quince, i bet he never thought it could look like this. Thanks for sharing the photos Toogie, you are becoming an expert at your photography. Sandra.

Ashley and I were on the phone last night and she remarked how she can't wait for her Uncle Quince to come see it. He will be so proud for her! His two boys grew up taking their baths in it, because back then, there was only one bathroom and no showers.

A lovely family heirloom. When we demolished our old house ,we discovered the our bath had clawed feet but it had been boxed in.The feet on ours were lion feet.Wished we knew about getting it renovated at the time .A family member took it & it is probably wrecked.

What a shame if it is. Also, why in the world would anyone box it in? Maybe they didn't want to mop under it, I don't know, but to cover up those beautiful lion feet, what a shame. Wish you could locate it and have it refinished too.

Oh no, she is beaming. It's in her master bath and its not like it will be seen and appreciated by others, but she appreciates it. She also has a large tiled walk in shower in here that they can bring Avery into. It is on the opposite wall, from the tub....from the looks of the above photo, the girls won't even use their bathroom anymore-lol
