I was reading some posts on a sewing forum, and one lady was talking about using cork fabric. She had some photos, and it looks beautiful. So I searched for cork fabric, and the first (and only) site that I looked at has cork fabric for $120 per yard!! Amazing. I think it's awful to spend $10 per yard, let alone $120. Maybe this lady has more money than sense...

Perhaps she has a inexpensive source of cork. Without reading the original piece I cant comment further

I really don't know what it is made of, but it almost has a weathered leather-ish appearance. It looks thick and rich.

Our local quilt shop has it for $72.00 per yard but it is 72" wide. Plus they sel it by the inch. I bought 1 1/2 inches and it was enough to use as decorative trim on 5 small bags. If anyone seriously wants the name of the shop for ordering infor pm me

I had seen photos of it being used as a binding, and it did look great. I think I lack confidence that I wouldn't ruin it, since I do a lot of unsewing and second (and third and more) attempts

It has just become available to retailers here in UK but they are wary of stocking it because it will be so expensive,

I would have to be very sure I was going to love it before I could allow myself to buy more than a few inches of it.

It is a linen fabric and yes it is very expensive and there is a couple of counts to the inch depending what you want to do with it. Hope this helps Val

Thanks. It does look beautiful. The photos that I saw showed it being used as a binding, and it looked like it felt luxurious.
