I feel as though I have reached a milestone, although it isn't earth-shattering. I use lots of pins when sewing. I use a magnetic pin-holder, and I've finally worn the finish completely off the top. Took years to do. So as a present to myself, I'm tossing it and getting a new one and all new pins.

And here the first thing I thought was, "Wow, I wonder just what could be created with the magnet within?" Maybe create a tool you could use to sweep it across the floors and rugs to pick up any dropped pins that have fallen to the floor, or maybe use it for the weighted end to hold the hanging thread catcher that hangs off the edge of the table, next to your sewing area. I would hate for a good magnet to go to waste. Hope you can think of a great way to re-purpose your magnetic pin dish. You have earned those new supplies! Pam

It's nice and heavy, I'll have to be thinking about that. Thanks!

Isn't it nice to treat yourself once in a while! I hope the new magnetic holder gives you as much pleasure as your old. Hmmm, I have a pin cushion that was given to me about the same time and it is still in use. We do love our tools.

I use a lot of pins, maybe because I'm left-handed and I have to reverse directions many times to work for me. I've worn the poor thing out!

I, too, am a lefty.....I feel your pain. I even stand and look back over my shoulder at times. LOL

That is quite something to wear off the top of the magnetic pin holder. I hope you get one that is really special to you.

Thank you. My new one should be here this week--the only thing is that I didn't get to pick the color. Wonder what it'll be...

"As sands through the hour-glass, so are the days of our lives" as they used to say on the soap opera on American tv. Stitchers have slightly different milestones.

That's so true. "One more needle-ful of thread and I'll stop for the evening." "One more seam and I'll almost be at a good stopping place" Etc.

I think I've magnetized my pins with so much use so I'm getting new pins too! So excited to have this little splurge.

I looked on the bottom and it has the year 1986 on it. That's older than both of my kids!
