Another project finished with sewing class: my first basic skirt. learned again a lot; didn't know that you have "ordinary zippers" and" "blind zippers". Also not so easy to sew a blind zipper. I selected a very long skirt with splits at the back. Thanks for looking.. now up to our next practice; basic pants

Excellent job...love your fabric...invisible zippers are much easier to put in if you use the invisible zipper foot! I do them all the time.

I wish I had you in my class I could show you and easy way to sew in an invisible zipper I have done many, but here is a tip:
open your zipper and iron out the curl flat(don't worry when you zip it back up it will curl back into place) then with your regular zipper foot move your needle over right or left according to which side your are working on, sew along the place where you see a line where the roll was, last last move your needle over as far as it will go and line up with the zipper seam to close your skirt seam, if you have trouble getting it close enough and have a small hole sew that by hand only a few stitches

You're getting quite good in a hurry. Love your happy little print skirt. I hope you are enjoying the classes and not stressing out!

At our class we are a great team and do not rush, the ones who are faster wait and help the others.

very nice, and you will look great in it I am sure. As for the 'invisible', like Chris I've never bothered but probably should invest in the proper foot for them as this apparently makes it easier.

Yes we used a special foot for it which makes it easier, the "teeth" of the zipper glide into that foot and so you van sew quite close to the zipper

Beautiful job. I too hate putting in an invisible zipper but they look great. Love the fabric. Hope you enjoy wearing it.

Just tried it on, it seems to be a bit too wide at the top, so probably need to open it a bit and fix that

Wow! Linda, what a wonderful job you've done on this skirt. I love the fabric and you've fully lined it too! Well done. You are certainly going ahead great with your new sewing skills. I've never done an invisible zip and I've been sewing for over 50 years! I love putting in zips though and do the placket style with one side hidden. Can't wait to see your next project. You will love doing pants, they are so easy! Love Chris

Thanks Chris for the comments. It is indeed a nice fabric, it is quite soft to touch
