I did not make one in the first place. I am too well aware of my weaknesses and do not deal well with guilt which would have followed. If any resolutions I would have agreed with the post about less housework. Oh dear, German Shepherd are know to shed horribly. Better not.
Happy New Year
The same as last year .Use the fabric up that I have already, This went reasonably well, used up about 8m of track suit material which takes up a lot of room but this got replaced by more when I found more at a op shop.Husbands fault ,he had a hospital appointment & there is no parking available there so I killed time by visiting op shops & just walked into Spotlight when he rang to be picked up.
Last week while I was looking for a certain piece of fabric ,I found some that I had forgotten about, now husband a new t-shirt & 3 pairs of pants.
Did one of you Cuties resolving to not buy fabric by any chance clean out some of your stash to Salvation Army? Well, I got it. 6 pieces over 2 yards, 49 pieces fat quarters or half yards, clearly a quilter, $11.50. Now I don't have to worry about breaking any resolutions.
My Resolution is to make the Quilt of Valor for one of the gents that served with my hubby in his regiment in the Viet Nam war.
Yes , I want to finish my PHD in Sewing & Embroidery. It will keep me busy all year. ( Projects Half Done!!!) LOLOL.......Janette
I managed not to buy fabric last year, trying for this one as well, clearing out all my old patterns, since ITH everything is made so differntly,,,,wendy
My resolution is to make new cushions for my living room ( have had the material for months) and paint my spare bedroom as my step son and girl friend are coming out for a visit from Brussels at the end of March.
It is just the thinking about it which is the problem.
Oh , My we are all addicted here . Let's just admit it. I make one rule. If I can not vision a use for it , I don't buy it and you know I see uses . However , I do restrain on some purchases. Kay
April?! That's either grounds for sainthood or committal. OR both.
Committal I think. As my sewing stuff is all getting into my new sewing room I am somewhat horrified at the amount of fabric that I have. Thinking in the past when I haven't bought fabric for so long I was working then and the first 3-4 months of the year were always so busy there was not time to sew. That has changed ;)
Happy New Year to all. I agree with you to go as long as I can without buying fabric. However, I acknowledge it is an addiction. So, my resolution is to go fabric shopping with everyone and we can all go to rehab in the Caribbean or someplace really warm and sew and relax for a couple of months while we learn not to shop. Anyone care to join me?
That needs some self discipline! But it will solve some 'where to put it' problems. Anyway, good resolutions are just January's to-do-list or so
they say.
Happy New Year to you too.
Impossible! My local JoAnn is having a big moving sale. Can't wait until their new, much bigger store is open.
I'm not sure I go a month in between buying fabric. Kudos to you to be able to make that long. I guess my resolution is the same as every year, to try to get as many projects finished as I can. My chronic vertigo slows me down, but I still manage to get something a step closer to being finished most days.
First thing I did this year ...is going to the fabric shop SMILE .
You know it was horrible...they were closed from 22/12 until yesterday....
Can't wait to start sewing...
My fabric shop isn't open until tomorrow so its not been a hard resolution to keep - yet. Hope you got some good fabric when you visited your shop
Not a resolution, but I always try to use what fabric I already have in a new project...unfortunately even with all of the fabric in my stash, I never have what I need...not sure how that happens...I guess I buy a lot of fabric without a project in mind because I just can't pass it up...somehow it never is what I need for what I am making...therefore, I have a lot of really nice fabric that I do not use...anyone explain this to me???
Thank you Sue. Reminds me of my old refrigerator magnet that said simply "Adjust".
I do not even try. I am weak, weak, weak.
Happy New Year
I admire your restraint. I have not set up such lofty goals. I learned at a young(er) age that I was just setting myself up for defeat. I do sit and list what I wish I'd do. Happy New Year Caroline.
A very happy New Year to you Caroline. I wish you well in your venture to hold back on the further purchases of fabric stash. Perhaps if you use the time it will take you to organise the stowage of what you have already got in your new sewing room, that will take you past April and thus achieve your resolution. But then again............................HaHa.
Mine to see how much fabric I can buy without breaking the bank my nearest good fabric shop is a brother dealer in Bedford about 30 minutes from where I am there is one In Cambridge but no parking near so its a long walk .
Enjoy your visits to Bedford and Cambridge, both are places I've not visited for a long while. My friend did buy a machine in Bedford when I last visited
