Oh, Toogie, this pic puts a smile on my face!! What a sweetheart! You have lots of love around you!!!! Love the jacket, by the way - you have a sweet talent! Hugs, Laura*
I kept 3 of the kids a couple hours today, while SIL and hubby went to get firewood. He is so good, I hope he never changes. Nora is something else too. We were talking about Trolls, and she pulled her hair up when she said they have hair like that. When I pulled mine up I asked her if I looked like a troll. When she said, no, a dinosaur something or something dinosaur, I started laughing so hard, because I was thinking, she thinks I'm so old I extinct!-lol
Give Gus a hug from me. He looks so congenial and happy. Great job on the coat - I hope it works next year, too!
The way he's growing, I doubt it, but pattern comes in multiple sizes.-Gave that hug this morning!
Such a sweetie! The coat will be perfect for the cold winter ahead. Do you feel sometimes you need to be an octopus with all you have to do, you are always on the go doing things for everyone, it was good to see you make something for yourself.
An octopus or a clone would be handy right now. I cut Gus out a stocking just now, need to emb and sew. I need to make 3 cosmetic bags & monogram, a hooded towel, emb a tote and make a purse...........the purse may be after Christmas as it wasn't a gift. We will see if they get made. I've had to babysit a lot lately, with the kids sick and parties are starting up, so I know I will keep them for those.
Great coat, Toogie, and done in so little time! The way Gus is growing it's just big enough to last him the winter! Lovely picture.
Thanks mops, it was quick because he's so little and only 6 pieces to the pattern, I think. I still liked your raglan sleeves better and looks like your hood has a center panel. I remembered I had this pattern and used it for Gus' brother almost 13 years ago and another g-son 14 years ago.
The raglan makes it very easy to get tiny sleeves in. As for the middle panel in the hood, I just had to add that as my remnants were too small to cut out the 2-part hood (that also had elastic in it), so I just made a middle piece.
Those old patterns are ideal, you know they work well. The coats were slimfit in the70s and 80s but a bit of enlarging is sinple.
I can't believe how much Gus has grown, it was only yesterday he was born, wasn't it? Great job on the coat and he's gorgeous! Love Chris
Thank you, Nora has us calling him Gussy, but I think we should call him little blue eyes. Yesterday was March, Chris and it is hard to believe how big he is already. I think he's almost 18 pounds and she just told me his height...but I guess I wasn't listening very well. He is easy to keep because he is so good and always happy like Avery.
Precious child and great job in the one day coat. I never do any thing in one day . You amaze me.! Kay
And I rocked him and gave bottles, etc. Had a phone call from a friend, while I was trying to sew, who forgot how to make those crochet scarves and had to refresh both our memories and help her get started.-lol- Then a brother-in-law come in, just at the end, when it was snap time!-lol-He laughs because I'm hurrying like a race horse, so my SIL can get home for the bus! It's like a 3 ring circus here somedays!-lol
What a cutie! Coat is great - children grow fast; I'm sure you'll be glad there is some extra room by the end of winter
Isn't that the truth. Thanks for looking. I still have things on my list............
Oh my gosh, look how much he has grown!! Such a cute, happy little face. Oh, and his coat is perfect too. Well done Toogie!
If that isn't the cutest pair - the coat and the little one! I am constantly amazed by your ideas and how much you get done. TERRIFIC.
If you only knew, this week is crazy. A friend text me today and ask if I was sewing. I text her back with photos. I made my table runner Sunday and embroidered Avery's sheet. Monday I made my curtain topper and an embroidered baby taggie. Today I made this jacket for Gus. Also embroidered 13 prayer quilts one day last week. AND I kept the little ones today and yesterday. Thank goodness Papa can make coffee milk and cook!-lol
Well by the look on his face, I think he loves it, Jean xx
Gus is certainly growing quickly Toogie your jacket will keep him warm for the cold season ahead. Photo is beautiful. Well done Gran. Sandra.
Thanks Sandra. He doesn't look sick here, but he has a cold. I told my husband this morning, if he will watch and tell me when he wakes from his nap, I would take that time and sew him a jacket. He's a good baby or I would not have got this done today. He wakes up happy and can entertain himself by watching everyone else.
