Cuties, I wanted to share a few photos with you and tell you want a nice time I had, while away. I must add though, it was busy days and sometimes late nights.

Someone counted we went through 16 states! We even got 'lost in New York'...isn't there a movie named that?-lol-I've always heard of the Bronx and Yonkers and there we were-lol-
We took in a lot of sites. Look in one photo, at Boott Cotton Mills Museum in Massachusetts, how would you like to wind those bobbins? Marsha & I bought a piece of their towel fabric. We ate that night at UNO Chicago Grill (food was delicious) in Haverhill, Massachusetts and found out when we left, just a block or two over, we were in New Hampshire!
At Portland, we took a lighthouse boat tour around four lighthouses,Casco Bay, & other points of interest. Beautiful homes along the shoreline. I really enjoyed this, as I love the water anyway. Included is the Portland Head light house from the water, but it was partly cloudy, so kinda dark.
We went to Pineland Farms where we enjoyed a personal guided tour, of the farms. It was in New Gloucester, Maine. We visited the Equestrian Farm and met an Olympic horse named Gus (-lol-my youngest g-son is Gus) and also the dairy and saw cheese being made and put into molds. We had to bring some home for Ty, even though they told us if we had a Krogers, we could buy their Pineland Farms cheese there.
We also toured around Kennebunk and Kennebunkport, Maine. We were able to see Presidents Bush estates (#11summer homes) at Walkers Point, from a distance. I have also included a photo I took. In one photo there, I took a couple on the beach walking. I don't know who they are, but I love this picture. It looks so peaceful. Maine lobster meal.
I got interrupted so I just hit the submit button early.
The fall foliage was gorgeous! The photos just don't give them justice. When I reminded my husband I always wanted to go up the east coast, in the fall to see the changing colors of the leaves, he said, they change here too!
Lunch at DiMillo Floating Restaurant in Portland,Maine. I must not leave out Lookout Mountain mile high railway in Chattanooga,Tennessee and Marsha here, at the Botanical Gardens in Birmingham, Alabama. Glorious plants!
I can't show you all the places we went, but I want to say, God has made beautiful natural places for us to enjoy, appreciate and take care of. I loved the rolling hills of Virginia, Tennessee. I love the Blue Ridge. I loved meeting people.period. We met a couple on a 3 weeks vacation, coming from France. They were originally from Holland. We met them at one of our hotels, at the end of their vacation, but they said they really enjoyed their stay here, in the USA. Of course, we all ate too much, but it was good to come back and eat home cooking.
If you look in Projects, I've started the next gifts for the next trip. It will be to Colorado, so it's the elk.
Hope you enjoyed some of my photos, with me. God Bless the USA!-Toogie

beautiful pictures. The old loom reminds me of the 96 of them that I used to run in a cotton mill. I would love to take a trip like this. Glad you had a good time

This was in Lowell, Massachusetts. Whereabouts was the mill you use to work? My only regret is I didn't buy more toweling. We rode a trolley there too. I hate to add more photos here, but the mill was a huge complex.( Oh well, I'll try one more.)Some of the buildings have been converted into apartments now.

I live in Chester, South Carolina and there used to be 4 big mills here but Springs closed them all and moved to Mexico I think. I ran pillow case material to king size sheets. Just about everyone I worked with now has knee and back trouble but I still love to go on trips like yours. Next time maybe some cuties can get together and go on one.

That sounds wonderful, a trip for Cuties! Sorry about your back & knees. Although it would be interesting to learn I'm sure it was a hard job lifting.

Yes, I took it all in. The mountains reminded me where we lived when we first married. I've always enjoyed the water but the ocean was magnificent! The oranges and yellows of the leaves were spectacular!

So glad you had fun on your trip. I love living in Virginia, we have beaches and beautiful mountains. Every fall my parents took us to the Blue Ridge Mountains to see the colors. It was always beautiful and a fun trip with Mom and Dad.

Oh Kathy, we stayed at Salem one night, but I don't know how close/far you are, from there. You do have a beautiful state. How lucky you were to enjoy the Blue Ridge every fall.

I love water. I love foliage.I love nature. There is a period behind each statement.-lol-Nothing man has made can compare to what God has provided freely. Loved experiencing it all. We have water nearby where we live but no ocean. As my husband said, the leaves change color here too, but not like way up north. I am glad and thankful, I was able to go.

Oh Toogie, You were within 45 min. of me. Would have done everything posible to get to see you in person. I love the B,ham Bontanical Gardens and in the past gone there often. My Grand son teaches Botany at West Alabama University and so often gives talks at the Gardens. Glad you had a wonderful trip. Jerrilyn and I both were so close to you.

Like I told her, what a shame! I would have loved to meet you both, and all the Cuties, for that matter! I tried to hook up with clintonmiss22, but as of today, I still haven't had a response to my pm I sent her. We met a couple going to Tennessee and they said Clinton was only about 15-20 minutes from where we were going to be staying that night. I think it was when we stayed in Jackson, Mississippi. Anyway, she was the only one I knew I'd be close to.The gardens were beautiful! ...repeating myself, what a shame..................

What a wonderful trip you have had. I'm sure you had lots of fun.

I didn't realize that you were coming this far south. When you were on Lookout Mountain, I was only about 20 minutes away.

Oh what a shame to have missed you! With our hectic schedule, I wasn't exactly sure what time we would be there, as we were staying that night in Salem,Virginia. I also didn't realize you were that close!!!

Glad you were able to make the trip and had enough energy. Rest up for your next trip. The mid-west and western states are so much larger than the eastern states that I am sure it will be hard to get close to your 16 state tally you had in this one- That was a whirl wind tour, being fast and furious to get all into it that you were able too. Looks and sounds like you had many memories that will be high lights to always remember. So glad you had a wonderful time and thank you for sharing photos for us to enjoy. Pictures are not quite the same as being there in person, but they are fantastic when we can't be there in person. Thank you so very much. Pam

I know what you mean about the size of the states. We once went across Texas. I thought we would never get to the west side!-lol- As far west is Colorado, the next trip, but not sure if I'm going, although I would love to see the Rockies!

We hadn't planned on going the way we did through New York, but honestly, too much traffic for this old country gal-lol-I love nature and the Maine guide said the trees haven't been this pretty in seven years.(God's perfect number!) They also said they haven't lasted this late, usually have had a northerner, to blow them off. Everything worked out great for us!..............the next trip is Colorado in May, but I'm not sure I'm going yet....

It was and I'm so glad my daughter decided to go too. Usually her sister and I go somewhere but this is the first time I've gone with my oldest daughter, just us, since she was grown. A good memory for us.
