Anyone own a Brother PE200 (or 100, 150, 175--I think they are basically the same). I've had PE200 Snoopy since forever--rarely use it because of small hoop. But a while back I took it for service to fix needle breaking. At pick-up they say timing was a bit off. Came home, plugged it up and screen was dark first half on left--could not see designs. Haven't tried to use it for a few months, but finally took to Viking dealer locally (Brother is 100 mi away)--and he only tried to lighten the screen from the menu. I read service manual that if you disassemble, should be very careful not to pinch LED wire when re-assembling. I'm wondering if this is what happened with servicing. Has anyone experienced this problem? My fear is that there are no replacement parts from Brother since it is old. BUT almost like new user-wise as I have back-up w/larger hoops. I guess I just want someone to say "yes, it happened to me and this is the fix". So hopeful!

Thanks for comments & suggestions...I'm building my courage to take it apart to see for myself. Good advice about not using tissue to replace bulb--if there is one.!

No, you SHOULD use a tissue to replace the lightbulb,

But a very plain tissue with no lotions!

I have a 190D but have never had this problem and don't know how to fix it. I hope you can get some help from the Brother helpdesk.
I have had the screen replaced on a Designer1 a couple of years ago - set me back only €70, installed and all.

Now that you added the picture I am sure it's not the screen itself as you can still vaguely see all choices. I think rescuer is right about one of the backlights gone, which should not be too expensive a thing to fix. If so use a tissue not bare fingers to replace.

Don't quote me -- because I could be wrong!
It may just be one of the backlights burned out. Some lights are extremely sensitive to burnout from fingerprints. I'm not saying this happened but it is possible. It could be due to shaking things up a bit too. I have not had this happen on an embroidery machine but other screens can go dark but if you hold a flashlight just right, you may be able to see the screen data. The backlights are still available in some online stores. I am not sure the cost. Call Brother and ask a qualified tech.

I did say "the LED" screen, but looking at the service manual, I stand corrected...it is LCD. I've studied the parts diagram and can't see any bulbs, but am going to gather my nerve & take the back off- after removing the emb arm. Oh my, am I making a mistake?

I*ve taken my Ult2003 apart to the bones! Just be soooo careful. I got mine back together, but it was scary!
