Just finished wrestling for 7 hours with an Asian tiger (design). He got out of registration and at 20,000 stitches I noticed some major sections were nowhere near touching. Then there was a lot of tearing out while remembering I am a child of God. Wanted to use bad words. Then about 2 hours of trying to find the zero spot where his edges were supposed to be to begin stitching. Then some more tearing out - 3 times. Then finished his edges and another half hour of clean up. He looks pretty good for the wear and tear, but I look BAD. He's not coming near my machine again for awhile. Lessons learned: tighten the hoop screw one more turn; pin closer; don't let my chair arm knock the machine out of alignment. (What happened, I think.) And watch more closely during large design stitchouts.

I know what you mean. Some designs just take so long and then something happens. I am not one to just toss in the garbage and try my best to 'fix' things. I know the mantra---change the needle. Well I was working on something that should have been easy. Fabric kept getting stuck in the needle plate hole. I cut and removed bobbin and cleaned anything that would come out and still no luck. Finally I thought to myself 'Dummy--change your needle'. Well that day that saved my stitching BUT some days you wonder what the heck happened. I look for the lighter stitching things now---when I do get round to stitching.

Know exactly where you are coming from. I rarely tackle the real high stitch designs anymore because of the stress they can cause when something like this happens to me.Lillian

Was this for you or a special design for someone else?

A for-profit bomber jacket.

I just had a problem like this a few days ago. After 3 tries, I went to Embird Editor, watched it stitchout, and found the exact stitch where things started going crazy. My machine tells me what stitch it is on, so I was able to get back to that point easily. It took a while, but the stitchout was saved.

I'm so sorry this happened to you, but I'll bet you learned some really neat ways to solve embroidery boo-boos. Share some of your tricks with us. I'm sending you a really big hug and an atta girl sign for your desk. :)

One thing I remembered to do was to float another layer of stabilizer beneath everything where my stitching and tearing out had distorted things. Thanks for the hug and the sign.

You have a stronger constitution than me I would have binned it after the 1st hour. Knocking the machine or table is so easy to do, we have all been guilty of that..

Hi Betsey, been there done that, and I'm sure most of us have at some time. So glad that you persevered. You have the patience of Job to have gone at it for 7 hours! I did that yesterday making a Holly coaster and must have knocked the embroidery arm and hadn't noticed that it had completely misaligned the whole bottom of the leaf design. I just threw it away and started another one!!! Love Chris

Let me send you a big hugg for all the pain and effort you went trough. Yes you can have some of these days that you keep on stuggling. I had one yesterday. 3 times I started all over , 3 times things went wrong. Then I gave up, decided it was just one of those bad days.
But you kept on going ! So that's good. Want to show us the result ?

Our hobby can really drive one mad sometimes. I had a chair that kept knocking my sewing table. Ended up with having to get a new chair. LOL.

Sounds like you had quite a few issues, walk away have a break . No bad words these things are sent to try us out. A frustrating time, have to have eyes in the back of our head sometimes, when one thing goes wrong it just seems to multiply but glad all worked out in the end. Sandra.

Poor you. That can be so frustrating. I have to admit that I had to smile at your comment about having to remember that you are a child of God. Tests of faith come in all forms. :-)

So sorry for you, Something hitting the hoop is pure frustration. I'm sure he will be beautiful when you go back to him.

Maybe an ironing will help.

7 hours of wrestling with your tiger and avoiding to swear - you must have the patience of a saint! I hope there was a happing ending eventually and lots of chocolate :)

Pheeew...sounds like quite an event....I must admit, I have had a similar experience....especially with something hitting the hoop (and my not knowing)...and having half the design out of registration...
