Miss Ava is having a birthday & has asked if I could make her more barbie clothes. The first is what not to do, the bodice is too short & using skinny ribbon is a bad idea. #2 I have to undo the ties because I stitched one side crooked but didn't realize until I put it on sigh....#3 I did the tops all basically the same way & using the serger is a fast & easy way to hem I put a sticker on the top but I'm sure that won't last & did 3 different skirts to go with well anything really except the purple. The bathing suits are getting pretty easy for me since I do so many pairs of underwear. A good tip is to hem the fabric first before I put it together makes life so much easier. Also did the waist on the yellow pants way to short but our daughter says they wear them on their hips? I used velcro instead of snaps on most everything here it is easier for little fingers.

Oh what hugs you will get for these. With 4 girls ,somewhere between all of them there are cases crammed full of Barbies and their clothes. . I crocheted a lot as well as sewing them in those days.. Have seen them spend hrs just dressing and undressing them. My mother worked for Mattel when Barbies first came out and I only had my 1st. Girl. Mom sent Barbies and clothes from then on. She was in Ca and we were in GA. Miss Ava will never, never forget all you have made and will make for her Barbies./Lillian

These are just glorious Loralye. You are a wonderful Grandmother to make all of these Barbie clothes. I couldn't imagine working with such small clothes. You are a great seamstress! Love Chris

Good job Loralye! I love the pretty prints, too. I use to make my daughter's Barbie clothes. Nora still prefers her 'baby' dolls even though she has some Barbies. She likes to cuddle them like you hold a baby, so I still have time, to either make a few new ones, or drag out the old.-lol......my mom used to crochet & sew Ashley's Barbie clothes. Thanks for a sweet memory.-Toogie

These are adorable. Sewing Barbie clothes is difficult everything is so small. You did a great job. I have been wanting to make more. Did you make your own patterns? Your little Miss will love them and treasure them forever! Well done.

Growing up I had a babysitter only two nights a year and she was a tailor by day. Mother always provided her a good scrap supply and she made the nicest Ginny doll and Barbie doll clothes that I treasured because she asked me what cloth I wanted to use and what I wanted it to be! A girl's dream, having someone sew for her special dolls.
