Yikes! An indoor waterfall is not a feature I would like to have. I hope you can find the source of the leak quickly so you can start working on replacing the blind. We are awaiting tropical storm Colin as I type this. I hope we don't develop any leaks.
Last time we had this ,all the power points didn't work,so we were lucky this time.
Hope Colin doesn't turn out to be a nasty storm.
Hope you find your leak. We had one in the roof years ago before we replaced it. The water was coming in through a small crack in the ( Asbestos) up in the ridge line and came down the beam to the wall and leaked. So your problem may not be right above the window.
We have finished with the rain but the winds are very strong and something is loose on this old house. Can't find what but every now and then it sounds like someone is banging on the door then it stops.
We have a tile roof & all the ridge cap tiles have either been replaced ,as well as reglued (I don't know the correct term for this) because the have flown off in previous bad weather events.
Maybe your banging door noise ,is coming from next door. Our neighbours have a screen door which at times comes undone & the constant banging is so annoying that we have to go and wedge something against the door to stop the banging.
I know how you feel Judy, we're the same up here in Newcastle. It's been raining non stop. We've found a leak in the roof too. Love Chris
The sun is trying to shine now & everything is drying out.
Haven't found how the water leaked through the window yet but it isn't what caused the leak last time.Hope your leak is easy to fix.
So sorry to hear of your problems. There is nothing worse than the impact of water leakage or flooding. Often, as others have commented, it is not so much the fact that you have rainwater getting in but more about finding the source of the ingress. I do hope that you are able to resolve things soonest but one positive way of looking at this is that you will now have to push the making of the new blind further up your 'to do' list, once you have fixed the cause of the leak. Not much help, I know, but I wish you a speedy and successful resolution to your problem.
The sewing machine should be back tomorrow or Wednesday ,from its service. The blind will be done shortly ,pieces from the old blind are going to be recycled.
It is winter here so having no blind on a 7ft x 4 ft window ,makes for a cold kitchen.
We found a leak in the lounge room ceiling today.. Hubby said look at this as he put his finger through the plaster. Now he has to inspect the roof and fix the ceiling when the rain stops. It's always the way a Plumbers taps leak and a Builders House needs repairs.
I know drips are hard to find. I was walking through the lounge into the passageway this morning and had a drip fall on my head. There is now a bucket sitting under to catch more while waiting for the rain to stop. Hubby said "It takes a drip to find a drip" (Cheeky man LOL) We thought we had fixed all the leaks in the roof of this old house we are renting. It just depends on the way the rain is coming from I think. At least you will get that new blind now. Hope you find where the water is coming in through. Hugs
Hubby also has a problem in his workshop. We have been here 10 years and he has not had a possum in there overnight until last week. Can't see where it is getting in from. There had been signs he had been back yesterday as he leaves his/hers calling card. I said he may have come in through the day and taken up residence.
Love possums ,they usually don't get up until after dark.
Why not make a box for it to live in ? They are not very fussy about what type of box you make, nail it up on a tree trunk a few metres from the ground.
Hope the leak is found & the ceiling is repaired quickly
As the day went on we found more leaks. Hope the rain stops soon. Have had no power all day today. It has just come on. Been off since 6-30 AM. As for the Possum I have suggested borrowing a trap cage from the landlord and when we catch it he can take it back to his place, after all it belongs to him. LOL
Yikes. The problem with water is that it may come from a totally different place and travel through the wall. I hope it can be found soon.
That is what my husband thinks has happened. We have a 3 metre wide pergola that runs along the width of the house which has a solar tuff roof .The roof is above the window line & the rain blew under the roof .
I wouldn't be surprised ,if the idiots who fixed the roof last last year ,cracked some tiles while they were up there replacing the tiles that blew off in Aprils storm.Never again .
