I also agree about opening up a seam, I did a denim vest with this type of lining & had to practically remake it after I embroidered it. LOL. customer was very pleased with results though. I opened up a seam but it was a big job as you have to have enough room to fit the hoop but it can be done.

I would never attempt embroidery stitching through the Sherpa. Think how much per hour you pay for maintenance on your machine. Just leave it plain or make a patch and sew patch on with a heavy duty sewing machine.

I agree open up a seam and just embroider on the Denim it will look nicer inside and out then.

I think I would opt to open up a seam somewhere too. Embroidering with the sherpa might not give you the finish you would like. Let us know what you end up doing and what worked

I would also open the lining up and only embroider on the denim. I've used cut away or tear away stabilizer.

If possible, I always like to open a seam and work on the outer fabric only when a lining is included. Can you do this-- perhaps at the waistband (if it's Western style) or perhaps at the underarm seam. It DOES seem like much thickness, but might be okay.
