Hi Cuties, I am trying to make 4 of the same design in my 8 x 8 hoop on my janome 500e and I am wanting to embroider all of the first colour for each design then all of the second colour then third and so on...... I have not been able to figure it out. I dont want to change the threads numerous times for each design(some are 10 colours) if I can just get it to do the same colours/steps for each design together. It would save so many thread changes. I have the embroidery editor than came with my machine and also digitiser mb 3. Thanks

I'm no expert, however, this is how I would do it. In digitizer MB, once I have all 4 designs in the same hoop (in Easy Design), I would select Colours at the top of the panel on the RHS where the parts of the designs are displayed. You should then have the colours displayed down in that box with the colour number and another number for objects. Say there is Red first, and another Red 4 down. Select the 2nd Red and use the arrows at the bottom to move it up in stages until it is next to the first Red, at which point it will merge with the first Red. Do that to each colour, sliding them up to meet their buddies and once you Save or Save As, the colours should magically all sew with all of the Reds done together etc. Send me a message if I've managed to confuse you further :) Good luck!

Thank you. I will try this. I think I can follow it. I have not used digitiser mb much so this really helps

If you have color sorting in your software, that should do it, though I like to manually order the colors so that I do less jumping around. For example: color 1 design 1, color 1 design 2, C1D3, C1D4, then C2D4, C2D3, C2D2, C2D1, C3D1, C3D2, and so on. Another thing to consider, is each time your machine jumps to the next design, it might pull your alignment off a little, so sometimes it's better just to sew out a complete design before heading to the next one. What ever you do, good luck!

Thank you. Just what I am trying to work out how to do. It is a fairly simple design so I don't expect there would be much of an issue with alignment but I can understand how his would be a problem for quite detailed designs

getEdited - SELECT

I just tried it in Embird using the latest design flowers from here has 8 colour changes.

I put the design in the 4 corners ( had to reduce it to fit) Then I clicked on select all. Went into edit and clicked sort colours and it now has the 4 designs sewing the colours in the same order. 8 Colours 8 colour changes.

I know you can do this on the machine with the built in designs I was shown once on a day when I was shown so much sorry can't remember that bit.

Thank you I didn't know you could do this. I used to go and do it by changing each colour with previous colour until I had joined all colours

Yes this is what I am trying to achieve. I don't have embird but will see if I can do it in janome digitiser mb3. I am sure you can I just haven't figured it out yet

In your software can you "color sort" ? That will usually organize & group all the same colors together

I am not too clever about this but surely if you have all the four designs in one hooping you just need to change the thread order???

There is a button to press in your edit screen when you combine the dedigns. Check the handbook to find which it is!

Ten colors is not as bad as 20-30, but still, assuming you mean the 4 designs are in the same hoop, whether you combine like colors in your software or just leave 4 groups of colors in your stitch order, and manually select the same color from each group one at a time, this does not take into account the jumps of threads you will be creating from design to design especially all over the back of your work which can cause some tangles and thread breaks. It also does not account for the added distance the needle may need to travel to begin the next color for small details like tiny eyes or dots which means it may not begin the stitch as intended for the best result. In my software, I can not only combine like colors, but I can also change the order that each color stitches. Remember though, that a good digitizer has already taken these things into account and additional thread changes of the same color my be necessary for the best stitchout result. The only way to know is to experiment or if your software allows you to see an animated run-through of the stitchout, you could view it once you have combined your designs and "undo" and "redo" for any adjustments. I have had some successes, some fails. Sometimes the effort involved in saving thread changes is more than the thread changes themselves! Good luck to you. Deb
