I am thinking of buying a hotfix crystal applicator & I was wondering, what I should be looking for besides a plug that can be used in our power points.Any tips would be appreciated.

I have one that also has a flat trowel attachment that looks like the sole of an iron. It is for pressing fabric while in the hoop for applique or quilting small pieces of fabric. I haven't used mine yet.

I think you need to let them cool before you change to a different size tip, but there is a new one out(not sure where to buy it though) where you don't need to change the tips out.

Also I have seen ones that are battery operated so depending on what you need it may work for you

I bought mine from ThreadArt years ago--very reasonable price--it came with I think 7 different sized ends that screw on. It does not have on off switch so have to wait until cool to change. I have lots of packages of crystals from them also. They now sell a higher quality of crystals also but I don't have a problem with the cheaper ones. Occasionally they have a special price on them also. Usually I am only working on one size of crystal so on/off switch doesn't bother me--both styles have to cool before you can change the end. That said, I am happy with what I got.

Thank you .I checked the site out & they were on special. When the USA dollar is converted to AUD the price is nearly the same as the one I was looking at.

Just checked your response--yes, I just saw ThreadArt has the tool for $16.99 and rhinestones for $4.99>>all on sale>>don't know how long the sale goes.

I have two of these too, they are not that expensive here in the Netherlands. ( both have an on/off switch) The reason I have two: there are crystals in several sizes. Sometimes I use several sizes of crystals, every size needs its own size applicator accessory, and when you use them, they become very hot, so you have to wait till it's cooled before you can change the accessory for the right size. In that case I use the other one with an other size of accessory.
It's fun to use, and you can use it on all kinds of materials, on wood, paper, fabric. Here's something I made:

Lovely design, Gerry!

I have only one and a nice set of applicators to go with it. Having two seems a good idea, but I don't use it that often. The stones don't come off in the wash but I turn items inside out to protect the decorations.

Beautiful bag.

Lovely Bag.The one I was looking at had free stones with it & 7 attachments.Like the tip for washing.Years ago I found that using a pre wash spray on any garment, took the finish off sequins even though that garment hadn't been sprayed.
Garments with pearls on them ,need to be turned in sided out otherwise they can get skinned.

I have two of these applicators, and one of them has an on/off switch that I like. Other than that, the two of them are the same as far as function and ease of use goes. If I remember right, I think they were about the same price. It will be interesting to see what other comments you get about this. Judy

Thank you.I didn't think about a on-off switch just the correct plug for Australian power.
