Dear Cuties, I just wanted to update you all on my continuing journey.

I saw the Professor on Thursday and he has decided to send me to see a Rheumatologist. I am to wait for a letter from him, which I am expecting to arrive this week.

If after 3 months of whatever he will decide for me to do nothing has eventuated with regard to my pain level, the Professor said he will cut the Bursa out. Trevor keeps saying I'm not asking enough questions, but I only need to know what I can do for my pain levels. I am willing to try anything first before surgery and I'm sure you would agree to that. I really don't want to have surgery unless it's the last thing I have to do!!!

Anyway there is an elderly American gentleman who I often see at Orry's - (Orry is the owner of the local coffee shop at my shopping centre up the street). He suggested trying Hyrdogen Peroxide in about 7-9 litres of hot water or as hot as I can stand and soak my feet in it until it goes cold. He gave me enough for 2 goes. So I did it yesterday and it seemed to ease a bit. He is into natural therapies. You would not believe this man is 84 he looks like he is in his 70's. His wife died from over medication and so he has been researching everything natural. I'll try another soak when I get home from Italian classes this afternoon. I didn't take my suppository last night as I felt o.k - but I had a restless night and got up at 5.00am!

Please continue to keep me in your prayers thanks, love Chris

Hi

I have severe rheumatoid arthritis, and the pain is worse in the cold. In winter I was so stiff and sore I could not move. I found that keeping the room I'm in, nice and warm, and myself nice and warm, the pain and stiffness were much better.

I am not sure how warm or cold it is where you are, but try to keep yourself and your environment warm. It might help?

My prayers are with you, and I hope you find something that takes the pain away very soon!

Hugs
Anneliese

Oh, and I use magnesium as well - when I don't, I can feel the difference...

Thinking of you - hope your specialists can soon find the best way to provide you with some relief. Keeping you in my prayers.
Meanwhile, you might like to chat with your chemist or health food merchant about the usefulness of "Cramp-Eaze" magnesium supplement (it has a couple of other trace ingredients as well as magnesium to improve your absorption & utilization of the magnesium. Magnesium is also known to help reduce blood pressure for some people. .

Chris--I've also had a neighbor tell me about the Cherry Juice and my brother in law tells my husband of the help of magnesium. I have not tried these as I go with my pain med's Dr. says to take. I am arthritic and am glad I had my thumb joint replacements. I lived with that pain for years and did myself no good as 2 bones in left hand deteriorated so badly and one bone in the other. Also feet Great toe surgeries and pins in foot. Now the worst is my left shoulder and back blade. Had the cortisone shot in top of shoulder and wished that had been done a year ago. I kept putting it all off until I thought I just couldn't stand it any more. Sometimes better to go ahead and do than not to do. Still, I have not tried home remedies--I hate putting money in to a lot of expensive stuff that might just sit around. Prayers for you. New medical technology all the time--maybe this new Dr. will have an answer.

Best wishes to you. Living with pain is ... a pain! Lol! Sometimes if I did not laugh at it all I would cry. In other words, distraction from pain is sometimes all we have to manage pain.

I hope you can find something to help. It can be hard when you are suffering with pain.
My Rheumatologist suggested magnesium supplements as it helps with aches and pain. He says that almost all of us here in Aust are deficient. I also find it helps and also having a soak, even just my feet in epsom salts(it has magnesium) helps too. My DD has been having similar problems and has been put on magnesium too.

Thanks so much Karryn. I'm willing to try anything at the moment. I can't wait to see what the Rheumatologist says. I didn't know about Magnesium helping out too. Love Chris

Take your husband with you to the doctor. He will help you remember what is said and he will have a better understanding of the overall problem. He may also think to ask a question that you wished you had. Kay

This is crazy, but it has helped my hubby & me. We drink at least 8 oz. of TART cherry juice a day. Be sure it is 100% tart cherry juice, not a mix. It's costly at our store, but we do mix it with some ginger ale & it makes a nice drink! Natural & tastes good! We did find a bottle of the concentrate in the produce dept. at Krogers (I doubt you have that store there) & even though it was more costly, it ends up being cheaper that way.

No it's not crazy Gerry, Cherries and Cherry juice are one of the best know remedies for Gout. I asked for some Cherries at my local green grocery store this afternoon and they didn't get any in. She said that another lady had asked for Cherry juice only yesterday. I may see if I can find some too. You're right we don't have Krogers here - but I'll find some. Ta very muchly, love Chris

Thanks Carolyn. I'm not sure what the real underlying condition is - because of the 3 things in the same area. Hopefully there will be something I can do. Love Chris

Ask lots of questions, try anything that seems safe as surgery is the last option.

I also would try everything I can before surgery. Sorry to hear you are still having pain. Mine has settled at the moment, but I must not speak too soon he he he Hubby has just been in and had surgery to remove a nasty skin cancer from the side of his head. he looks a bit like a mummy at the moment with his head all bandaged, as well as his thigh where they had to take skin for a skin graft. He goes back to the doctor's tomorrow hopefully to have all bandages removed. We don't know what the next step will be. Hugs Shirley

I understand all too well about being willing to try anything. I say, if it will not hurt you, try it. You never know if you don't try. I think you need to take your suppository even if you feel you are doing OK. Keep that medication in your system. Can Trevor go with you to your next appointment? I'm sure he has questions and has a right to have them answered. Be sure to write out your questions before you go though. I'm so sorry you are having such a bad time with this. Don't be afraid to try everything you can and see every doctor you need to see.
