Hi,

Update: They just called me - he is deteriorating badly - struggles to breath etc. They said there is nothing more to be done, except to put him down.

I am going there now to be with him when they put him down.

Thank you all for your prayers.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------<

My cat has chronic renal failure and was admitted to hospital Monday morning. Please pray for him - I can not afford to keep him in hospital any longer, and I have to put him on a drip every day for a few hours.

He hates needles - if he can not adapt to the treatment, I have to put him down.

I am praying for all of you who need prayers.

He is my baby and sleeps in my arms every night.

Please, he needs all the prayers he can get. He is only 13 years old...

In the picture he is weighing 5kgs more than what he weighs now due to illness.

Hugs
Anneliese

Thank you.

The vet thought he would never see his first birthday due to the severe epileptic fits he had since a baby. Love and prayers let him reach his 13th birtday...

At the moment all the good times in the past do not console me. I am sure it will get better after a while. But I miss him so much...

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost one a few years ago and it devastated me, I still miss her. What you are doing is the kindest thing you can do even though it hurts. Honestly I don't know if I am strong enough to do it. I have two cats now and both of them are sick with a kitty cold. God Bless You in your time of grief.

Thenk you.

I never let them suffer, I always let them go once medicine can't help them to have a quality life.

I know your grief--it's been a yr for me now but still miss him so much. Senseless loss for us--he was almost 14 and a simple cleaning of teeth-but some kind of mistake. He got too much anesthesia and couldn't wake up, just seized continuously. After 3 days we let him go. The office never charged anything, even for cremation. This led us to believe they knew it was their mistake. But nothing to be done but grieve our loss. I hope you will soon have a new buddy..love will find a way.

Oh, how sad...

I have lost my job and can only get a new baby once I've got another job. I am going for an interview next week - I am praying I get the job! And then a new baby!

I always let them choose me, I can't wait. Mine use to sleep in my arms. My nights are so long and lonely now....

I need a fur baby...

I just want to say I hope you are coping ok. It is sad to lose a loved furbaby as they are so much a part of your family. I feel your pain. We lost 2 of our elderly pets due to unfortunate events.
Remember the special times and maybe make a memory album with photos and messages.

I'm so sorry about your kitty, I didn't want to say anything in my last post but I had to do the same thing for my kitty when he got sick & I couldn't bear to think I was being selfish & keeping him in pain so I let him go. This is the worst thing anyone has to do so I do know your pain & sorrow. Just remember all the lovely memories & I'm sure he gave you plenty

Thank you.

Yes, we through a lot together - he had severe epileptic fits since he was a baby and the vet thought he would not see his first birthday. He turned 13 this December - just shows you what loving care and prayers can do!

He was stolen, and I shattered my foot badly searching for him. My foot is still giving me problems - the doctor said he had trouble putting it back together - it was a jig-saw puzzle!

Two weeks later he walked back into my door - perfectly groomed, not hungry, looking extremely well etc. I think he had epileptic fits with the new "owner" and they brought him back. (I put posters on all the stop streets, shops, schools, and vets in our suburb with my telephone number and address, specifying he had a severe medical condition and needed medication twice daily)

Nobody could have missed all those posters for 2 weeks...

Don't think of it as putting him down, you are letting him go. One of the greatest things we can do for our beloved companions is to give them freedom from pain. I have sat with many of my fur children and given them permission to go ahead of me. They are still with me in my heart.
I'm sorry for your loss, remember we are all here to listen anytime.

Thank you. I always let mine go when medication can't help them anymore. But in the past I had others left to help me get over the trauma. He is the last of my babies to go, and according to my son we can not afford to get another right now...

You are doing the right and loving thing for your baby........it is the hardest thing we have to do as pet parents, but when it becomes necessary it is nothing but a showing of love for them.......bless you....

Thank you - the vet said they could keep him alive. I said no, as he would have no quality of life. He was not happy at all the week he was in hospital, and I could see he did not feel well at all, and did not get better. Quality of life is extremely important...

My heart is breaking for you. I hope you could hold him in your arms one more time. As difficult as it is for you, you know you have done the right thing. Your love ends his suffering. I know many tears will fall, and you will always miss him, but as soon as you can, give another dear creature a home and love. Just what I have done--there is room in your heart to love another.

What a lovely cat. My prayers are being sent a his good recovery. I love cats but do not have one now after having to have one put down years ago. She was 19 years old. A great age for a cat the Vet told us. Hugs Shirley

Anneliese...I am so sorry to hear of your baby's health issue.......we have 2 of our older cats with renal failure and have been giving them IV sub fluids for over a year now and both have adapted beautifully....they hate being kept still for the period of time it takes to sub Q them, but it has totally turned their health around......good luck and ask the vet for size 16 needles......it goes twice as fast.......our girls don't even flinch anymore when we put the needl in.....hang in there!

I feel your pain. I also had a kitty with this problem & the vet said it's very common in male cats. I hope he gets better. Our pets really become a part of the family as has my stray kitty (not stray anymore as she's been with us for nearly 2 years now)

I feel your pain. I have had to have so many pets put down and it is so hard and sad. When they get to the point where there is no quality of life. I will not let them suffer. You will know when the time comes. For many years I refused to watch ,but with my last dog I chose to be with her and I felt so much better. I'm glad I did. Kay

Thanks for your prayers.

I lost 10kg's in one month the last time I lost a furry baby - neither of us (the cat and me) are eating at the monment. They will give me pills to make him feel better so he can eat. Currently he is fed through a tube in his nose....
