This was what is called a cheater quilt block. It is applied in a technique on the back of a sweatshirt.

Lovely. I still have one and made them for other family. They are not hard to do.

This looks like something I did years ago but I don't remember what it was called. This is very pretty and will bring you many compliments.

I've just come home from walking the dog and my brain has been working out how to do this in the hoop.

Looks great, never saw this technique before or is this what they refer to as reverse applique?

Yes, just like reverse applique--just have to watch when cutting the sweatsirt material away and not but the underneath quilt block.

You know Carolyn--I am now having trouble finding this material yardage. They were popular so don't know why. Yes, this is large.

HI Patti, I also hold onto the CONTROL button and the roller ball mouse forwards and backwards at the same time and I can enlarge it even further. Is this one of the quilt squares that you fluff up the seams? Looks great, love Chris

The printed quilt square has iron on interfacing applied to the back of the square.Lines are then drawn onto the interfacing where you will stitch. It is visible thru the thin interfacing. It is then pinned to the inside of the sweatshirt pretty side of square facing the inside sweatshirt. Stitch with a shorter stitch length on all lines. Then, CAREFULLY, begin to cut away the sweatshirt from the outside approximately 1/8 inch on each side of the stitched lines. The pattern of the quilt block will then show through. I cut the binding off the sleeves and bottom edges and finished them in a way I like. I'll have to get another picture. The seam will fluff some after washing--not a true chenille process. Also, I am sitting with a mini wireless keyboard and finger pad so no scroll for me.

I can not figure why when you click on the picture it won't enlarge. Sorry Toogie. Maybe it is the size of the picture. I did resize this to a medium hoping that would work but just tested it and nope, won't.
