I just went to designsbysick.com. They are no longer offering hourly designs----just popped up in the last few minutes---I am showing the note they have on their site---"Due to huge amounts of support and lack of sales lately we are forced to remove the hourly designs and the lottery." They still offer a daily free design and a daily free design on Facebook---but the lottery is gone. Hope we can still purchase the sets---I love their designs. Best wishes to them.

The notice was up briefly last night and the freebies returned in less than an hour. I think it might be a warning. They've been making a lot of changes, new page designs, new things to vote on and most importantly - new digitizers. I'm sure it's all working out for them. There have been a lot of problems with the voting and some with the digitizing too. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I have seen the free hourly designs several times during the day----have checked occasionally----hope they continue---but I truly understand if they do not---things change over time---thank you and God bless you.

This post is 11 hours old at this time but after reading this post I went to the DBS site and the hourly design was there, the hourly hunt was there, and so was the daily design and face book design. Maybe you have to be a member and be logged in to get them. I did not see any note that stated any designs would be removed. They have been saying for the last week you must log in to use the site.

There is a post in the Forum by Sick about discontinuing the Hourly Hunt and the points system due to lack of sales...but not sure where it will all end up...there is a note on the Lottery page about that being discontinued...

They have to maintain the site, I'm sure. and I do not think sites are cheap or free---Hope all goes well with them--Thank you and God bless you.

Folks, we need to support our favorite digitizers and websites. So many are interested in getting free designs, but they forget that websites cost money and don't purchase designs. Please support your favorites by purchasing designs or memberships or they will have to close down.

Excellent points. Free is nice, but free designs are not always perfect. And the sites do cost money to operate. thank you and God bless you.

On any site...it's not just free designs that are not always "perfect"...depending upon the site, but free designs are usually so you can test drive the QUALITY of the site's designs...so if your quality is not there for the free designs...many will not buy designs for fear the quality will be lacking too...

Excellent points, Karen.

AND I try to remember, the design might be free and perfect---but what I do with that design can be varied---I can stitch a design on different projects with different stabilizers and have a different result on each project with ONE DESIGN----that has happened to me many times----Thank you and God bless you.

I want to know if their designs are really worth the effort ...I have stitched out a few and are not so happy with the results??? What do you think?

I cannot say overall. As with any, there are many variables and factors. Thank you and God bless you.

I have stitched many over 5 years and i LOVE their designs hugs

osueo by osueo 19 Jan 2016

I agree with you noah, I have stitched out many designs, free AND purchased, from MANY different sites----the big thing I have found is----WHAT I do---fabric--stabilizer--thread--I very seldom can blame a site or digitizer or anyone----99.9% is what I do right or wrong---Thank you and God bless you.

I have always thought they make it by selling ad space based on their traffic through the site and that sales don't matter all that much, otherwise, why give away so many freebies per week. Then they made us log in every hour or stay logged in - most people don't like either of those choices. Maybe they need to see if it still makes a go of it by actually selling designs instead of ad space! There's plenty of pretty there.

Agree. I don't need to sign up to any more sites so will give theirs a miss from now on.
