On my computer, when I use Jef+ it takes me to my Embird program. So I thought it was for Embird!!! Hahaha! I am thankful to find out what it really is used for! Thanx for posting... Hugs, Judy...

jef is a stitch data file and jef+ is and editable file used for larger hoops. There is a detailed difference on Janome

Very interesting. I know my 300E uses Jef but when I transfer to my 500E using the editing software that came with the machine it transfers to the machine in Jef+ but wondered what was different.

As a side note...I think that all of the newer machines that read the Jef+ will also read the Jef format too...

I have always wondered that to. I know my 300E doesn't understand the Jef+ . Will be interested if anyone else knows. Marian

No idea, it might contain extra info, Like e.g. a greater colour palet. My 4-needle only reads dst and jef, not jef+.
I know the newest Husqvarna/Pfaff software gives default a vp4 file which holds more info than a vp3. But only the newest (and most expensive) machines can read that.
