I got an unexpected Christmas gift today. A new boot! To be honest 3 weeks ago I sprained my ankle and there has been little improvement since then. It is still bruised and swollen so it was back to the doctor's today for another x ray. She decided I have torn several ligaments and the ankle may have a break which is why a 2nd x ray was ordered. The boot has made me much more comfortable and I am grateful for the reduction in pain. Any advice for me. This is a new experience for me. And I guess it may take 2 months for this to heal. Yikes!

Hi

Sorry to hear of the bad ankle, but happy about your boot. I had to wear one for several months, and all I can say is PATIENCE, PATIENCE and stay of your foot best as you can.

Have a very Blessed and Happy Christmas and ignore your ankle!

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

AH Karen how painful for you, only good thing about it is a break is it is better then a sprain so I have been told. A boot will help keep your ankle stationary so it should heal better too. Try to relax some if you can & stay off it as much as possible. ~hugs & an angel for you ~

I can honestly say I have not broken any bones. I hope it stays that way! I am glad to hear the new boot works better. I am so glad there was no mention of surgery and hope that stays off the table.

I hope it doesn't come to surgery too. In the meantime I will patiently wait and be a good girl.

Now there's a thought, embroidered Velcro. The Velcro does come off so it can be done. Thanks

Thanks I'm so happy to have the pain reduced too. My spine and vertigo were really having tantrums.

I'm really thankful for you that they got to the root of the problem. Now you will begin to heal properly. You have been advised already keep same height to heels, this is important. Stay off of it as much as possible . Have as great a Christmas as possible and do what the Dr. says./Lillian

Oh my. The things one will do to get early Christmas gifts. Kidding aside, You better do exactly what the doctor says. Those torn ligaments can be harder to heal then a brake. Let Rob spoil you. I will keep you in my prayers.

Sigh I have no choice but to let him spoil me. Poor guy! I'm told if I am better in 2 weeks I am doing well, if not, back to the doctors for a an MRI.

I am sorry to hear this also. The best advice I have for a boot is to be sure that when you walk, the other shoe has the same height (or as close as possible) as the boot. If your boot leg is higher when you walk, you will start to have hip and back pain. I spent almost 3 months in a boot. Oh, don't drive in the boot, it is automatic ticket here if on your driving foot. Rest your foot and hope you feel better.

Fortunately it is on my left foot. Good thing my poor old clogs pretty much match the height of the boot. Thanks

Oh, no! I do so hate to hear that. **(Your post brought up the attached ad.)
I don't have any advice for you except 1. take calcium and lysine: Calcium is essential to bone health, but if you don’t have the right amino acids, it isn’t going to be as productive as it could be. Lysine is important when it comes to calcium absorption, so make sure you include that in your diet. 2. Let Rob carry you on that satin pillow for a bit longer. 3. I'll pray for quick healing.

Good advice. I will have to get lysine today to add to the calcium I am already on. All prayers are very welcome. Thansk

Boots are wonderful and they have saved me from myself...I am not good about just sitting around waiting to heal. Sorry you are in such pain though. I hope the pain level continues to drop and the healing begins -- soon!

Thanks. My brain has been quite foggy thanks to the pain so I have been quite annoyed at being sidelined. I don't make a good princess as I tell my poor patient hubby.

Ooh! Karen I feel your pain. I hope it heals faster than that, you are in my prayers. Just rest your leg as much as you need and when you feel like it Karen.

The only advice I can give you is don't go doing any ice skating! (only joking) Hope you still manage to have a wonderful Christmas and festive season. 2016 has got to be better. Love Chris

P.S. Thanks for being such a good friend.

The two of us are quite the pair, aren't we! Fortunately there aren't many places in Florida to go ice skating. I'll have to try roller skating instead. hehe I'm still praying and hoping you are feeling better.
