UP DATE ON MY NEEDLE THREADER PROBLEM.

I went in to see how the dealer got on about checking my needle threader order. He said he has re-ordered it. I doubt if it was ever ordered in the first place. I asked what sort of part it was, and he said another board. Reckons it should be in by next Friday. I will still ring another tech Guy I know in Melbourne later today. I have men here working on the roof with noisy machines this morning so have to go out and leave them to do their job.
Hi Cuties. I just need to vent.
I envy all who have good back up technicians. I am still waiting for a part to fix the button that brings down the needle threader on my 11000. I have been waiting for almost 4 months. The wrong part was ordered (though he had bought this to my attention) and put in. A part that was not broken in the first place. AND has caused another problem with the needle threader when it is working. I rang yesterday and was told 'Oh I must check on that tomorrow' He did not say which tomorrow. I was thinking of buying the 15000 but if I cannot get back up on the machine I have what is the point. The girl that works there keeps telling me "You will just have to thread the needle the old fashioned way" OK for someone young with good eyesight. I went in and had a ??DEMO?? on the 15000. I knew more by what I had read on here and on the Janome site than the girl that was showing me the machine. I asked to see some of the decorative stitches sewn out. She chose 1 and then commenced to decrease the width to 6.2mm I said the machine has a 9mm width and you are changing to 6.2mm. Her reply was I don't have the right foot. She then sewed out about 1 inch which was not enough to even see the pattern, she was using cream thread on cream fabric. She knew I was coming in for a demonstration so should have had every thing ready. When she did a Embroidery design she left the top thread floating, after the machine had stitched over it a couple of time she said "Oh I should have cut that thread, but I don't have any scissors here". Gee I could have taken a couple of pairs with me if I had known. Thanks for listening. Shirley

My needle threader also decided to break yesterday on my sewing machine. It is the second one I have had to replace. I will try my local guy first, and if he will not do the job then I will have to take it to Bernina, an hours drive away. So sorry Shirley you are having so much trouble. Hope all resolves soon.

Sorry to hear your needle threader has broken. It is not the actual needle threader that I am have the problem with but the button that is pressed to bring it down ready to thread the needle. Since HE put ij the wrong part sometimes when the needle threader comes down it makes a funny sound and then I cannot do anything except take the needle out before turning the machine off and then turning it on again. Gets very frustrating. The dealer says he does not know why it is doing that. I told him to think about it and be able to fix it when the right part comes. I too hope all is soon resolved

Hi Shirley. I don't want to add to your frustration, but I must tell you that I bought a brand new 15000 in December, and the automatic needle threader worked for maybe a month. Took it back in to my so-called dealer (a long story there!) who couldn't fix it, but said she'd order a part for it. Well here I am ten months later and still threading the needle by hand!! Hard to believe I'd have to do that, given the price of the machine. I've also had problems with the embroidery bobbin (no solution for that from the dealer either), and in hindsight, if I had it to do over, I would not have bought this machine. I had a Pfaff for about ten years and never had problems like this. I gotta say, though, when it DOES embroider, it looks great. Live and learn, huh? By the way, I'm in Florida, USA, so looks like Janome has widespread "dealer" problems. Hope yours gets resolved soon. Eva

When we pay so much for a machine we expect it to work as it should. The dealers and mechanics don't see it that way though. I am sorry about your problems. I bought a little gadget needle threader from Bernina (I think) which is quite helpful. Does not do the job correctly all the time though.

I totally understand, I did not post last year I had similar issues. I sent my machine to Brother international and they fixed it, it still has never been perfect though. Refurbished can only do so much I think. I have issues doing FSL.

I have had problems with this machine right from the start. I should have stood my ground back then and got a replacement machine like Lorayle did. I will be having a talk with another Technician tomorrow. Thanks. Shirley

I am not surprised that you are cross, angry, unhappy ... You have not been treated well at all. I have a 5* dealer who has sent parcels of goodies in the post with 'a pay next time you are in the shop'. That could be in 6 months time. The times I have had a quick chat about a problem over the phone goes has happened frequently. I have purchased 2 machines from him. A visit is two and a half hours each way on not very good roads. My dealer is in the UK but you are very welcome to come for a visit should you wish as he services a number of makes of machines yours included. In one of the back rooms in the shop is a series of named certificates for the shop owner and the other employee stating which machines they have been on courses for to deal with the serving. I am not known for being quiet or patient. My dear husband will ask me to make 'difficult' phone calls as he feels get action more readily than him. I remember many years ago when I was needing to buy a freezer. The man in the shop said well you have no choice but to buy from us. That was the challenge to go elsewhere. I got what I wanted and cheaper, delivered and fitted. All 30 plus years ago when we accepted the lack of choice more. As for the young girl giving you the demo, I think I would have asked to have a go my self and given her a demo and mentioned that cream on cream was not the ideal choice... I could go on but phone Janome in Melbourne and ask for help. I would also let your rubbish dealer know what you are doing as it just may get him moving. BUT please, please let us know what happens

I'm glad you vented and you have every right to vent. I'm glad you are going to speak to the Janome office and I sincerely hope you get help. I will admit that because my machines are not under Warranty anymore and I am unhappy with the tech service of my local dealer, I am now traveling 2 hours away to have my machines serviced by someone I trust. Have you tried wearing earplugs? I have problems with noise now thanks to my permanent vertigo. My husband found this kit and I was able to make earplugs molded to my ears. It blocks up to 26 decibels but I can still hear well enough to carry on a conversation. The kit has 2 types of a silicone like stuff that you mix together, place a bit into your ear and gently press it in, wait for it to dry for 10 minutes or so and take it out to let it dry fully. My personal ear plugs have made the world a safer and gentler place for me.

Pleased to hear you have found something to help you with your vertigo. My problem is severe tinnitus and using ear plugs is not a solution as I then hear the tinnitus more. Thanks for your reply

I feel your pain, you should definitely contact the Melbourne office and inform them on what is happening. the owner of the store should be ashamed of his self and his staff but she probably wasn't trained right. Unfortunately Tassy is a very small state so not much competition, chin up we are here for you so vent away. Marian

Sorry I missed answering your reply. The (lady) was supposedly trained by Janome I believe. Yes Tassie is small and no competition here anymore, which is sad in a way. it kept the other dealers on their toes. Shirley

As an retired janome dealer ( Australian) I can say that this is not the usual standard of service- please contact Melbourne and ask to speak to a technician- I had a problem with the buttons in that area and it turned out to just be a leaver in the top that needed a bit of oil - not all service agents know what they are doing but it doesn't stop them taking your money-where are you located.?

I am in the North of Tasmania. I am calling into the dealers shop tomorrow to see what he has to say. If I am not any happier I will ring Janome Melbourne on Friday. I am going over to the Stitches & Craft later this month so I can take the machine with me if I have to, as we are taking the car on the boat. Thanks Shirley

I like the Janome as they are quieter than a lot of other machines. I have a problem with my ears and cannot cope with too much noise. As for a new dealer, I wish. Hugs Shirley

I am afraid I would have a fit. Hopefully there is another dealership in the area when it comes to purchasing a new machine.

I am about to spit the dummy. No other dealer in the area where I live. This guy has 2 stores. There is another about 1 hour away and I would not buy from him, and the other Store is a 6 hour round trip, and I am not too sure of the service I would get from there. So you see I have a problem. I told my niece I was going to give up sewing and go into a Nursing Home. LOL Joke only of course.

crafter2243 by crafter2243 06 Oct 2015

Shirley I am glad your only joking. No machine problem should make you want to go to a nursing home. The problem is that this dealer knows that no competition is around. I am curious to know how Janome is going to react.

I will let you know.

No unfortunately. I am in Australia. Not much in the way of Sewing Stores in the State I live. Thanks

My goodness -- that was a horrible demo! I would consider going to another brand with better service if they do not improve a LOT. Have you spoken with the owner? I might contact the maker of your machine and let them know of your troubles...tell them you cannot buy a new machine as they will not fix your old one and the new one was not demoed well...

The demo was pathetic. I worked in a Sewing Store some years back and demonstrated lots of machines. I would have been ashamed to have some one complain about any demo's that I had given. I sold 9 machines in 1 day once. Yes I have spoken to the owner and he is the one who keeps putting me off. My next step is to contact Janome in Melbourne regarding the problem I am having. No way will I buy another machine from this guy if I can't get back up on the one I have and what would the service be like with another model. Thanks for your reply. Shirley

Wow, you have been patient and tolerant. I don't think I would buy a new machine if they can't give service. Hopefully, you can find a dealer with good service.

I feel I have been patient long enough. He is on his last chance before I go to the Head Quarters of Janome and complain. I have paid for a part and for it to be fitted that was not broken. He seems to think I will be paying again. I have a surprise for him. I will NOT be paying any more.
I live in a small State of Australia with only 3 dealers. So I do not have much choice. Thanks for replying. Shirley
