Fall is in the air in the Northern Hemisphere, at least in my back yard in the mountains of Colorado. I had to shoo this Momma Moose away this morning. She was stripping the aspen leaves off the smaller trees. She was grunting and calling for her calf you can barely see in the background at the top. The leaves are starting to change.

Moose are great! This is becoming a yearly event. Your property is so beautiful, I think of your night sky quite often as it was the last time I stared at the Milky Way. It was wonderful.

Don't worry, dear friends, this moose has become pretty used to people around her. And you may notice this photo is taken from above. I was standing on the stairs and could run right up if she turned my way. She ignored all my shoo-ing. But after I grunted back at her, like her calf, I decided I probably shouldn't do that! I sounded way too much like her baby. Dumb idea. She doesn't seem to worry about having her picture taken. We have had moose kill people up here, but it usually when a dog is involved. They tear into people's soft flesh with their hooves. They don't eat people, just lots of grasses. leaves and bark. We love seeing them when they stop by.

A beautiful scene, Jan. It has gotten a bit cooler this week here in GA, and is beginning to feel like Fall! But, we will probably still not have to wear jackets for a few more weeks yet, just sleeves. Don't have moose around here, but plenty of deer coming through my yard! They come to my fish pond for water, then rub the bark off my trees, on occasion. I have found signs of them around the pear and apple tree, so think they are partaking of the fruit! This Spring, as I was getting into my car to go shopping, I glanced to the far side of the pond, and a newborn deer was standing at the edge of the water. Of course, mother deer was partially hidden by a nearby bush/tree, waiting for the fawn to follow her. A sweet view, but, of course, did not have a camera!
We were in such a drought this summer, the leaves have begun falling early, and changing colors, too. My most favorite times of the year are Fall and Spring.
Hugs, Angel

Love the mountains of Colorado! Have never seen a moose up close and personal...not sure I'd want to either. Enjoy the beautiful Aspens. they remind me of gold coins tinkling in the wind.

Wow! how exciting Jan to see this gorgeous beast. All we see in our back reserve are dogs and birds! Your Aspens are such a pretty delicate looking tree. I on the other hand have massive gum trees in our back reserve, but I'm looking out my front window at my 2 Royal Mantle grafted (onto a Silky Oak) Weeping Grevilleas, which at the moment, are in flower and there are bees everywhere collecting the pollen and nectar. Have a wonderful week. Love Chris

My leaves in Alabama have begun to change, but mostly because of being so droughted in July, I believe. Looks like my prettiest dogwood will lose much SOON. I could be out there starting to rake already if it weren't for this @#!$% knee. Looks like DH will have to "mow" them up for now. Have never seen a moose, although we had two huge, gorgeous deer out back last evening.

I do not think I would have the courage to shoo away a Moose specially when there is calf with her. Mamas can get pretty feisty when they think their off springs are in danger. You are a brave women

Such beauty!
Do be careful Jan -- I'm sure you know they can be more dangerous than bears.
