Went into see my Auntie at the nursing home yesterday for her 99th birthday. We had a lovely party with some her children and Great Grand Children. Here she is cutting her cake with her 2 eldest children. I gave her a bunch of Flowers and one of those toilet rolls with the 'Frog Butt Why Per' cover on it. She has a great sense of humour and I knew she would like it.She was tickled with it and kept saying "It is the funniest thing that has happened around here in a long time" After some time in the lounge with us all she wished to go back to her room. We went to say good bye before we left and she was fiddling with a photo in a paper folder. We were told she was doing what she calls 'Playing silly buggers' ???? She is such a darling and the only Auntie I have now.

I have added a picture of the resin dog that was sitting behind Auntie. It looks so real and is the size of a real dog. Hubby was telling me this morning that she had dropped some food on the floor and her son Peter said 'Don't worry the dog behind you will eat it" She said what dog? He said the one sitting behind you. Her reply was, 'If the Lord had given me eyes in the back of my head I may be able to see it"

Thanks. We have been going to see her on her birthday for a few years now. It is becoming a real family get together. She had a big party for her 90th, but she is now confined to a wheel chair since a fall, so we just have afternoon tea at the Home. Hugs

Thanks. She is a real treasure, and has had a fascinating life. Has done all sorts of crafts over the years. As a child I always looked forward to her visits as she would have a new craft to teach us girls. Hugs.

Oh Shirley, she looks so good! I bet her great sense of humor, is one of the reason she stays so 'young', I hope so as I too, love a good laugh! I read something the other day, ' laughter is good exercise, it giggles your innards.'-lol-Tell her a late happy birthday for me and I'd love to know how to get a copy of her books and sayings....I bet she has 99 years worth!-Toogie

Thanks. Yes she has been and still is a lot of fun. Loves a good joke. Has two books with clippings of jokes she has collected over the years. She reads them to the others residents, but not the ones in the black book as she says these are the rude ones in there. Hugs

Yes she is very spritely. Such a wonderful lady. She wrote her life story quite a few years ago. Full of wonderful memories. She also wrote a book of jokes and sayings. Typed them all out on a old style typewriter. She wanted to do another book a couple of years ago but could not get any new ribbon for her old typewriter.
